I get it. You all saying/thinking gambling is luck/no skill therefore when someone says it with trading you feel the way you do.

Just as there are bad forex traders.... There are bad gamblers. Good forex traders and good gamblers implement strategy to increase their odds of winning. It seems to besbe attachment you have to the concept and don't want to admit or accept the FACT.

Playing lottery is one thing but skilfully gambling is another.

You would be surprised the effort put into skillfully gambling...I mean. Skillful gamblers doesn't say I'll bet on any time she just pick one.... They pick the one they they will win based on things they know. It is really people who make a living from betting on things. As well as people who study data and present it for use in betting.

It stops being a gamble if you can get the odds of win on your side i.e. edge. Casino is gambling because the odds are in the favour of the house.
One can argue that chosing a university is also a gamble because what you are easentially betting on is what alumni will give you a better chance of getting a job. So with trading you can either gamble or invest. Depends on whether you have conducted enough market research or not. Same with any business venture you delve into.

It depends on the context. And that is why I put a qualifier in there. If a currency is currently trending strongly against another currency, then it would be a gamble to put your money on the weaker currency. The smart thing to do would be to invest in the stronger currency.

No, trading is not gambling. From my experience, trading is not gambling, I'm making great money and not based on gambling, but due to research and strategy and experience that I have, I consider myself a winner for me in forex trading. So no you are wrong. Card counting was the thing years ago, and I would say that was not gambling that was something like trading, odds are big and you can win. Now that they are changing decks all the time, you can't count cards. So you are strictly just gambling. That's it. Those are the FACTS, and you either learn it, accept it or keep gambling and lose money. That's it.

Instotutions and banks dont speculate. They have real orders for trade, settlements etc. They dont care what we do. As retailers we try to identify and follow their orders. If you can read what that community is 'likely' to do, then you become a sophisticated investor. No you are wrong. It does not apply in gambling, can't do anything against the house. You are just gambling, and all those "knowledge" you mention is just to make you feel better. If you gamble it is just gambling, 50/50. Trading is not, it is totally different.
