My point is you can't go by how many pips you make in a day. It's at the end of the year when you calculate how much you have gained or lost that tells the true story about what kind of trader you are and how successful your system is. It's not about pips but profit.

if your opening and closing multiple positions in a day and you don't consider yourself a day trader/scalper then your a terrible swing trader or position trader jk....but you need to reconsider something if you are!

I’m confused hmmm by definition a swing trader is someone who holds positions for multiple days, a day trader is someone who holds position for the day. I believe swing trading in terms of PIPS is more lucrative

that is what I mean by a day trader and I guess what some mean by "scalper"

A swing trader typically dosent have the same volume of trades as a day trader and they hold trades for multiple days as you said......

dose not mean more pips......

a swing trader plays swings in the market...that can go for days....usally uses a daily chart....a good swing trader would have went long on eruo several days ago around 0892 and may have added along the way and took profit on those longs yesterday around 1337......think of that as a straight line from 0892 to 1337....that's 445 pips in a straight line from 0892 to 1337!

between all the "intraday" cycles of peaks and valleys from the price level 0892 (5/26) to yesterday of price level of 1337.....the amount pip movement intraday for in that time is a lot more 445pips...

maybe a hard concept to digest and I probably cant illustrate good enough

you are wrong on many levels... let me asknyou... if you can make 10pips a day... are you guarantee blue??? If you master the art if 10pips daily... you are bound to always win... dont matter if its $1,$10,$100,$1000 pip is still pip. As long as you are on the positive side... there is no lost... so definitely pip matters.. now I think you are probably mixing it up with people who probably trade .1 lot and make 500pip then trade 10lot and lose 50 people leaving net worth still negative... those are just idiot people who cant trade accordingly to their margin. So we can cross that out. But do you not agree? If you make 10pip everyday..... won’t it be a positive portfolio?

IMO

Scalping requires more work than swing trading and position trading. But I also think scalping "can" be more lucrative.


for scalping IMO just a "few" things you need and need to know I am sure there is more and maybe others will share.....



news how/when/if it will move price

candlestick patterns

candlesticks

Fibonacci patterns

ability to quickly find levels and patterns on multiple time frames

ability to use multiple timeframes at once

TIMING

momentum indicators

An understanding of price action

times of high volume and low volume trading

risk management

Forgive me for the chart as I am not a Pro at supply and demand/order flow trading. Letting the market structure itself it seems we have a balance between buyers and sellers within this range. Looking at future price action we can spot the imbalance and trade it.
