I see that happen all the time. You get a nice looking setup with steep angle at candle 1, you enter on the close of that candle to see TDI hooks over 5 minutes later and you are left with a nice drawdown position for hours or days where market just decided to go flat. How do you handle that? Do not care because SL is taking you out no matter what the market is doing or exit for that exact happening (exit if TDI hooks over gives you a check mark ...).

Well this is actually i ask my self all the time. If you say "waiting for action to happen" after came to the clue the market is sideways because x bars of that X time frame chart looks sideways, here is what happens to me

You get NO further TDI cross over that is following after what you call "action" is (please describe what you would want to wait/see).

Then you go from sideways to a first swing of a trending move again (i hope my explanation of that is corrrect) but you won´t see any more TDI cross over signal for that move until its over (pulls back again / might change direction / retraces / full reversal).

I actually never see a valid TDI signal if market is NOT sideways at that point. Either its trending and you get no signal (at least thats what it feels like to me) or either you get a signal but the market condition is "ranging" at that time...

right now the action I am waiting for is the next H4 candle and see if there is breakout of the Master Candle ...CONSOLIDATION.

too difficult in M5, M15 and H1.

Yes but then what criteria legitimates such breakout to you, a single bar closed above/below you consolidation line? And if that happens wouldn‘t you have to wait if you also get a valid signal after the breakout was confirmed?

So then you get a signal/alert to take action in a consolidation area that you would skip because of the fact you are in consolidation and do what? Close that chart and wait for another signal?

So you might get a second signal for that market at a later stage.

What i notice is the following. As most currency pairs showing a much higher tendency of beeing in a consolidation period than actually showing smooth clear chart pictures with smooth swings of price action you either HAVE to take that „consolidation“ signals or you rarely get a signal which would allign with the right type of market condition (a clear trending structure).

So wouldn‘t it be much better to trade a strategy for intraday where indicators are build and tested for to perform well with actually NOT waiting for that trends where such trending condition is at that time already past Information at all?

Its like trying to trade with the trend in a established past trending market structure i was able to see from the past, in markets that more often do not trend a lot :-)

Its Kind a hard to grasp for me.

I would simply look at the smaller TF charts, looking for the IMT patterns for where the direction change is confirmed. Afterall, "action" on a higher timeframe is because of the "action" on lower timeframes. And when looking for "action" on timeframes that are quite far apart, as is often done on this thread, such as M5 and D1, VERY often the "action" on M5 is too "weak" to even make a ripple on D1.

IMT/TDI traders have already analyzed ALL the charts and determined this is a good time to exit and take the profits because likely the up move is over and will begin moving down. No reason to wait for price to drop all the way back to BE.

Big E could not have tested all the possible exits and have the data to show us which gives the best results. Simply not possible.

There are many trade EXIT options which you can consider.
Not all of them were discussed in this thread.
Do you want to limit your trading to just 463 posts by the OP in this thread?

setting hard stops - SL and TP in your MT4 terminal is for your broker to see them.
use stealth mode for your own trade management in your trading server.

do not hold open H4 trade over the weekend, there is only one exception.
