Similar trend witnessed in 2008 recession: This pair rose to 110 n started downward journey to 88 n stayed below 100 for entire 2009.

Sup everyone, please don’t flame me. Just returning to the forex scene. My question is this:
From a fundamental perspective what caused this massive v-shaped run up? Are there folks here that are trading counter trend albeit this impulse wave may be exhausted?

Fundamentally... I would guess The Fed coming in played a big part. Also B of J talks. Been that way for the past few. Corona = down. Economic data = up. Soon however economical data will join... then economic data will be bad, and coronavirus data good, and she will run back up. All opinions mind you.

Yes price action may well go higher; however FWIW given the harmonic pattern & several indicators a retrace is on the cards IMO

usdjpy shorts are fighting against weekly and monthly sellers on a weaker yen. I see dangerous upside on usdjpy at the moment. Fundies need to come into play to get them out before it matches a dollar ready to retrace or deflate, maybe. I'm looking at BOJ or Kuroda to release something yummy for the yen. I don' know what could be. Not my forte. DXY showing good setup for retrace via Wyckoff chart patterns (Obsay's market patterns). Wyckoff market patterns don't show up often, but they are excellent when they do. I could be totally wrong. I see potential upside on DXY WK, too, but it's dangerous. Most likely: Liquidity move before descent.

Actually a catalyst severely weakening the dollar as opposed to strengthening the yen would be more likely. I see exactly the same for usdchf indicating the dependency is on DXY for the moment. Perhaps those weekly and monthly bulls are getting ready to hit margin calls.
