Waiting for US open.

As Delta mentioned, big day for options plus it’s a Friday so I am cautious.

Pre-market data looks bullish despite the drop right now. Will wait and see what develops given everything can change in an instant given current climate.

DOW's Quarterly June 2020 futures opened with the larger spread (difference) to the daily cash, signalling a downward pressure for the time being.
I am trading both ways, with a bias to the short side.
Quarterly futures are not attracting additional charges apart from a larger spread to start with, and the difference to the current cash price, but I use them for trades which I keep for longer periods. unlike the cash which I usually use for intraday trades only.
Good weekend to all,
2be
Celebrating discipline.

Saw a huge spike in puts via ICE data after 3pm, that killed all bullishness.

I didn’t really trade much today as I just don’t feel like risking Friday trades.

Hi Neogenesis, The "Put" spike you mentioned, are they "Sell Put Options" or "Buy Put Options"? What Market were those options directed too? Commodity Indices, Currency Indices, Equity Indices, Fix Income Indices, Thank You, 2020DowJones.

I wouldn't be suprised if they shut down Equities markets.

Most Governments are going into survival mode with only the essentials open - Supermarkets, Pharmacy, Petol stations, Hospitals.

Think about it, isn't Shorting Equities considered an Anti-Social activity in this environment?
Eg Profiting from the misfortunes of others.

Draconian measures will be in place soon enough if this shutdown/lockdown keeps up.

I guess when all these people start carrying on how they are making loads from shorting the Equity system.

Do they then get a red-flag from the Govts that they are now being Anti-Social? Lol

Be mindful of Draconian measures.

I see Govts are racing to change their Insolvency Laws given this scenario, I can certainly forsee Equities Markets getting shutdown for period of time. Otherwise D/E ratio covenants will get triggered all over the place, and Banks can pull the trigger at leisure on listed and non-listed markets. Anyway, what do I know, I ain't in Government.

I think that many regulators advised firms to curtail short selling. My broker did not curtail short selling but now allows me to short the DJ30 by only 3 lots at a time
This broker just banned short selling. You might call short selling an Anti-Social activity but I call it party time
