Hello Guys,

As a novice trader, I am happy to learn from this great forums. Especially many senior and experienced members are so kinds to share their knowledge, with selfless dedication, positive attitude, I do appreciate!

As thread title, is there any good noise filter indicator to avoid bad entry? ATR? RSI? or special combination indicator?

Sorry for my bad English, I am from Taiwan.

I use the higher time frame range signal. If it is not going to signal, it is a head fake. I also use price sample sizes to establish control limits. If price is outside the control limits, it is not reversing. If it is inside them, it is likely in consolidation. This only works if you trade with mathematical probability. If you trade s/r or candles, then I have no advice. Good Luck.

Hi dkrock,

Thank you for the comments.

I wonder where could I learn the mathematical probability which you mentioned. So far I could only try S/R.

Hello; you need to build your own trading skill to understand the quality of entry points! Don’t think; it’s all about trading indicators!

That's why I am trying my best to learn from the forums.

So far, mostly use EAs to do both back and forward testing, but found bad entry was the disaster. So am trying to find any good filter to work for custom EA.

Thanks for the comments!

Noise means balance, transition, inaction. Think extremes instead. If you must have an indicator, even a humble zig zag will do, but not on its own and not without you having a clear idea of how to take advantage of the extremes. Food for thought.

EAs will give you a headache; they will hardly deepen your understanding of how price moves, unless they are your own creation in accordance with a concept that you yourself came up with. Understanding first, automation second.

Good luck.
mind over matter

Thanks for the constructive comments.

I understand to have a clear idea before to use any indicator/utility, software.... for trade. To be in concretely, and take an example; Adapting TDI indicator as main signal trigger to make an EA, based on reversal and breakout, scalping, grid/basket exit strategy. Some bad entries must be filtered out while the volatility is low, and the band width is narrow, screen shot as below.

And I tried to find S/R indicator, but unfortunately, this S/R indi is repainting based on zigzag.
