Parisboy,
Want to tell you thank you for always sharing & entertaining our questions regarding the envelopes & related topics such as Gann & our friend Murrey Man. Some will never grasp what your trying to share & the importance of what your sharing as they are too excited about creating the next Holy Grail indicator or EA. There will be no such indicator, but I can see some value in a custom indicator being use as a guide of sorts. What your sharing & what one other trader on the factory are trying to share is all one needs to trade. A new trader would be wise to READ & HEED what you are sharing before they get sucked into the elusion of the next holy grail indicator.
Oh & one other thing...your comedy @ one or two other threads whether intended or not is spot on. Again, thank you for sharing your hard & long earned knowledge.

For anyone that's interested you can set the envelopes up on Mt4 exactly as Pairsboy shows (pip value) buy using the indicator that Nih98 showed

(averages-mtf -alerts 9.0)

Dave my friend would you please elaborate a bit more on our friend Nih98's indie? Btw you seem to have mastered getting the envelopes to fit well using MT4. All seems to works for me using MT4 except when it gets to the Ole Deviation part. Currently have envelopes on 2 MT4 charts, but they seem nowhere near like what you & Parisboy have posted. Currently trading a method that is working very well at this time, but had a keen interest for Hurst, Gann & Murrey for many years. Parisboy has been kind enough to share many sources of information relating to the three mentioned. Would be interested to know how you are using Nih98 to form the envelopes. I don't consider envelopes as an indicator per say, but a guide of sorts. Any advise, comments or views would be most appreciated by this trader. Not sure why this thread never draws more of those wanting to learn......oh now I thinks I know....not enough bright colored lights always flashing & needing a tweak here & there to keep them flashing. Best of trades to you.

Go to Nih98 own thread page 19 post 369 this will then direct you to another link were you can down load the mentioned indicator, have a read of the instructions and how to make settings , you can now change the setting to Pairsboys you will have to add the indicator 3 separate times on your chart, 1 for each envelope
here are 3 x 15 min charts each showing a single envelope with Pip deviation, Parisboy as showed how to calculate but for this example I will use
31 pips for the Envelope 32 with a -16 shift
62 pips for the Envelope 128 with a shift -16
124 pips for the envelope 256 with a shift -16
for all I have the simple m-avgs set to close
you can play with colours to suit yourself

Here is a little exercise with one you follow Gbp-Jpy my setup is just a smidgen different than Parisboys
Now I accept that the first setting of the envelopes is a little fiddly but once set you can save it as a template, then all you have to do is change the pip value
I get my setting from my use of the Murreymaths grid as you can see by the screenshots
I have set a Big Boy chart up which gives a 5 year view looks ok but you would need deep pockets to trade it, so I then dropped down to a weekly view on a 15 min chart , re-setting Murrey and the envelopes.
I hope that gives you the general idea any problems ask Pairsboy or myself
