Automating a Forex Strategy

Greetings traders of the world.

I have been trading for longer than most of you, and don't have much to show of it. But I feel in my gut that I am close and yesterday afternoon, a light started to constantly shine in my life. As the saying goes, it's darkest before dawn. I was visualizing this thread being part of the dawn. If you have a great strategy, and you have personally forward tested it, please feel free to share, and I will personally pay my programmer to program it professionally. It would be absolutely great to put it on 28 pairs and see where it goes. I do prefer strategies based on currency strength, and I believe exiting early is key.

Will keep an eye out on this thread. I do have an idea, though, that I had my programmer do earlier, which basically scans all the pairs and tells you which ones have the best volatility with lowest spreads. I wanted to add to it before sharing. Lastly, if any of you are in the USA and have been having good experiences with brokers, would you mind sharing about it? I use Forex.com and so far no issues, but I do wonder if there are great ones with lower spreads.

It is great to hear that you have found the light. I am keen to share after completion of forward tests, but not for something that may work for 28 pairs. What I have noticed, spreads are a big part of trade cost, but there is also quality of service to consider. An entry placed with the smallest spread that gets requoted or lagged in execution is far worse then a trade executed immediately with 0.2pips more spread. Well they are my 2 cents anyways.

I do have a few questions,

Why target 28 pairs at the same time?

Currency strength may be able to show the best 2 pairs to trade (strongest vs weakest, perhaps), but what about the delay as the strength can be shown after a move has already started/ moved considerably?

How do you account for the extra risk taken from trading correlated pairs?

Maybe it would be best to share your approach, as there are many strategies you can select on this forum if you wanted to get them coded.

When I mentioned the 28 pairs, I was in the mindset that the strategy would be with high timeframes (my apologies), which most of my strategies are, but I am testing some scalping ones. So for scalping, the spread is crucial. I know there are brokers out there that offer small spreads and slow execution, but I am talking about the big guys that offer faster execution.

Regarding currency strength, I am still putting that together . . . A lot of times I would enter like a buy on eur/usd, eur/jpy, and eur/gbp when they all show up and once of them shows a fresh one. Sometimes, all three win. Sometimes, 1 wins big and 2 lose small. Still working on the money management, but I believe that if your drawdown goes against you more than you expected, and then goes back to break even, close it out !

if your strategy works ill personally make it automated for free in just minutes and as somebody says in here before ill pay for it too, maybe ill make u my family too maybe ill...... hhhh
