Disliked{quote} Read an interesting piece from, "Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow." The author mentions, in passing , that histories often talk of great nation struggles, wars and the struggles of royalty, inventions etc. But little was said about the lot of the common person's life in those times. Industrial power versus poorly housed, fed, under educated , exploited common guys etc. One could agree that little has changed for the ordinary soul in the street- exploitation via zero hour contracts, inflated house prices, soul less jobs, shrinking effectiveness...Ignored
Disliked{quote} Indeed, common people's life has not been well researched by generations of historians. Some may argue that there are less sources because many (not all of them!) were not writing because they could not or had no time (lol! guess why?). I also found it hard to bring the topic back to academic discourse. The interest among students was there, but the professors did not back it ... they were busy with their newest project 283 593 495 on "noble men between nobility and getting bored".Ignored

Disliked{quote} An interesting book ,from a working man's viewpoint, of recent history, is The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, by Robert Tressell, first published in 1914 after his death in 1911. I got the impression that they can be their own worst enemy, divisions fostered and nurtured by the employers and so called elites. I am not trying to preach socialism etc but the impression I got is the "divide and conquer" or "starve them of publicity" approach of the so called employers and governing classes, being effectively used to stifle any threat to...Ignored
Disliked{quote} i understand.. trade your own style. Maybe i should of kept my mouth shut. i made a lot of money treading the (false break) that is why i dislike people quoting (false break). Trade well, i know you can.Ignored
Disliked{quote} Good choice not to trade. Sure, the mechanisms you mentioned regarding holding people in the dark remain in place. You do not have to be a socialist or anything politically to see that, just an open mind. We live in a big golden cage, a world full of illusions. As you said, it is clear that the ones profiting from that want to keep the status quo. We can already see it is nothing but a big illusion by looking at what people call success - look at nature: There is not such a thing as success. Just survival by living and making the best out...Ignored

Disliked{quote} The one point that should not be forgotten in all of this discussion is that the term ''elites'' can be coloured by which side of the fence you sit on. Never forget that there are just as many ''elites'' on the Socialist side as the Capitalist. The time honored technique of ''divide and conquer'' is employed just as ruthlessly by the left as the right, in fact some would say more so, in that they subscribe to the ''keep 'em dumb, poor and dependent'' school of thought. I am a Libertarian, by the way, in case anyone was wondering.Ignored
