It is SMA 5 no offset. I am guessing your sma5/3 means sma 5 offset 3.

After the candle closes on 12 Dec NY time, if I see sma 5 point up, and it did today by the way, then I enter.

Ah, I suppose you've left the original Bk8 strategy with MA5 with a shift of 3 for something else then. I'm still fiddling with the original strategy, and some filters. I should read this whole thread, but it would take ages. =/

You don't have to read the whole thread. Just read the first 40 pages & last 20 pages. You will understand everything (which I did).

the strategy doesn't specify when to enter, only that u enter after the candle close and sma 5 pointing up. I try not to enter immediately after the open as spread is high. In this case, and its a prudent approach, is to enter after it breaks the previous day high, to get a higher chance. others have said they go to a lower TF and find a better entry.

year end coming, slow trading days ahead.

The 1st thread already updated to SMA 5 no offset. I am surprised you managed to find the offset 3 in this haystack

I read the original post and saw the MA5 with no shift instruction, but in the following posts all they talk about is MA5 shift 3, so I thought the original post was wrong. Didn't realise it had been updated later. Sorry.

By the way, I've taken three trades with this strategy now (two with MA5 shift 3, and one with MA5) and they've all been losses (stop loss). I might have had bad luck or maybe I did something wrong. Will see if I can put up some pics of the trades later, and maybe you can point me in the right direction.

My MA5 is still sloping up, and some other things on the chart is different from yours, but I suppose it has to do with different brokers (IG Markets for me).

NZDUSD was total fail. I have done some backtesting by checking setups posted in this thread and i don't know why people believe so much in system. It is not that profitable at all. Just my two cents.

I guess that it is your fair right to dismiss it if you don't find anything in it. For others it works. But everyone here has his own tiny tweak in his approach.
And for sure every system makes losses occasionally.

By the way, I exited NU trade#1 at touch lower BB (51pips). Trade#2 is still on but might be triggered at BE+2 soon...
