I took USD/JPY short on H4 today, and right now i am in profit. Regarding Exit. The TDI hooked over, does this mean i should exit the trade at this point or wait until the H4 candle is closed?

From what i can see the TDI has not hooked over...yet!

Look at the end of the TDI green line. It slighly moves to the right, goes flat. Insnīt that what "hooks over" means?...

Pulled back now by 15 pips. How do you manage such H4 trades where you donīt want to monitor a candle running for 4 hours just to see it already loses its momentum on the same candle you entered? Letting it hit your fixed SL, doing a trailing stop once in profit if so for how much? Hmm.

"hooks over" is what the last part of the Stoch is doing...But doing it the opposite way going up...

Hooks over is a definite tick or in the US they call a check mark. It should look like the stochastic does in your image but the opposite way round.

In the image I've put a blue rectangle around some of them.

So a formed check mark. But the TDI as well as Stochastic are indicators designed by past price bars information. So you have to wait for the checkmark to be formed after a candle closed. On H4 this could mean a lot of pips depending on candle size you probably could have closed the trade far ealier if you see such checkmark forming up instead of waiting until it has finished forming so.

It is EXACTLY the same as any price action you will look at. You don't know if its going to be a bullish bar in a downtrend until the candle has closed. Likewise the TDI will show a check mark if it closed a good bullish bar which is why Big E said to come out on a checkmark.

So letīs say you enter your trade on candle 2 after the first candle you got the TDI cross. Now on that second candle you entered you have to wait until it closed, if it closed with a checkmark has formed its considered as an exit signal, but only after the close of that candle, correct?

You should always wait until a candle closes it can spike up then back down, its only a closed candle that will tell you the price action, then it is up to you to decide if its bullish enough or take a chance on it continuing.

I am still struggling with understanding the importance of trading with the direction of the higher time frameīs trend/direction. From the charts posted in the TMS it feels impossible for me to learn this.

My USD/JPY trade example. If i look to the left side of the H4 chart its clearly looking up trending to me, right?

But to me this doesnīt makes a lot of sense to enter a trade in the direction of the "trend" because this is PAST direction and what does it tells me? That the up trending condition will stay forever and price keeps going up for the next 10 years ?

Shouldīt it be the other way round? So actually wait until PA goes flat, maybe wait for a consolidation period is over (where nobody knows when its over hah) and only then enter a position within the direction of the next signal, no matter what direction this will be, even if it means trading against the "overall / higher tf" direction.

Because otherwise how do i want to make sure the trend is still intact, so i would wait forever until going short before i go short when its already short (so i am to late again lol) This is really confusing to me :/

Hereīs a chart with my basic drawings to maybe making it more easy for you to understand my thinking process.

If the timeframe you're on is making higher highs and higher lows which UJ is on the chart you show, then the "safest" trade to take is with that trend. But it is always good to check where it might turn. On 4th the daily chart turned down and so I would have waited until 5th to take a down trade if I was on H4, NOTHING turns straight down or up in such a strong trend so there is plenty of opportunity to get in on 5th whether thats on H4 or a lower timeframe.

What about this H4 short signal but where my Daily Chart shows strong bullish bars but the direction looks sideways/bearish.

The signal otherwise looks strong to me on the H4. TDI green good steep angle, Stoch confirming. But both TDI and Stoch are at 68, 80 so overbought. But thats actually a good sign for a possible short trade right?
