A heads up - this week the CBRT will be announcing its trade decision, so expect a lot of volatility on USD/TRY.

Hi All,

Wondered in anyone can offer some words of wisdom, im wondering what is actually lending support to ZAR at the moment? (currenctly sitting wrong side of a short ZAR/JPY trade) .. mass sell off of EM, political turmoil, trump, gold down, technical recession... the only thing i can think off is that out off all ems, they have the best fx reserves.

I m asking just for clarification..

Are you long or short in ZARJPY ?what is your entry price?

EUR and GBP are up before CB meetings of those currencies in this week and also due to good news about Brexit..that provided some positiveness and USD down pressure overall that caused Zar strenght a bit..also considering huge up in last two weeks this is a normal consolidation I think and may last for a few days more..but, we should keep in mind that overall trend (weekly, monthly) is short ZARJPY long USDZAR..

i have short bias of Rand and Lira in medium&long term.. but up movement may not so direct up, it might be very choppy (in daily timeframe)..because, i think USD Index might drop in following months..I also think that EURUSD will be higher (expectation of US interest hike decreases while EU may start to reduce easy monetray policeis in 2019, also Trump effect) and USDJPY will be lower (problems in EM countries and possible Trump tariffs to Japan looks JPY positive to me) in following months (i may add charts later)..so, if this happen, even there are tremendous problems wth Rand and Lira, uptrend of those EM currencies (USD/EM) can be choppy, since lower USD index will provide temporary supports..

my brokers do not have zar/jpy , could you post the chart on here so we can see and we might be able to help

USDZAR & USDTRY

4H charts look bearish to me..we may visit MA supports below which are 6.35 in UsdTry and 15.06 in UsdZar..

I sold UsdTry at 6.47..1/1 leverage..see how

Edit: closed +90 pips my short..little profit..UsdZar has reached almost to 50MA at 15.06..lol i chose wrong one anyway i got what i aim today from EU long..now time to sleep..all the best you guys

USDZAR & USDTRY

Daily and 4h charts look still bearish to me in USDTRY and USDZAR...

CB interest rate decision on Thursday for Lira..most likely there will be significant rate hike this time..so, visiting 6.35 / 6.30 is very likely..

UsdZar is below 4h 50MA..also, daily candle looks very bearish..so, i think we will see 15.00 and probably some further down on Wednesday..until daily bullish candle close, it is bearish for me..to go long, it is better to wait daily candle like 28 august daily candle..

there is a unusual volume in USDTRY now..in this time, it is strange..last two 15 minutes candle volumes are more than Farnkfurt London open time volume..very unusual..
