My analysis on your charts is as follows,
GU
- Price is close to the lower stops
- Longies accumulation on the histogram charts below
- It would take lesser equity to move the price to hit the stops of the longies
EG
- Price is close to both shorties and longies stops making it an indecisive move
- In the histogram it shows shorties accumulation so the top move is expected.

Would you be kind enough to help me understand where I've gone wrong here?.

No..................GU took the upper MTS as I had predicted....

so here an analysis (see screenshots above):

- upper IR MTS at previous high
- some DM longy flow but not enough to stop the normal MTS run
- entry at lower side of range was "cheap"

Hi FF, from my understanding EU can target short stops above 1.16550 and then take a drop to go for long stops lower?

This is interesting it opens up so many more questions like some of them might sound very elementary, but please bear with me on this,
- How do you define the range?
- Do daily highs play a role when it comes to target stop hunt levels? Looks like they did in Gu Instance
- using the chart how would one determine that the flow is not enough to stop the normal mts run
- if buying low and selling high is part of the game then wouldn’t the SM have to spend much more to move the price in the other direction? Wouldn’t that reduce their profitability?

Depends; often I talk about
- day's range (for short-term trades)
- OR / IR (3 plus current session on M15.....................ca. 2m on H4)

Well,
as you can see, DM tends to place their stops there, following the "place your stop above the high / below the low" BS.
