First step of dollar selling off hard now...

We all know about the future rate hikes, what we don't know are the future negative speeches around it.

So it should mean dollar will be vulnerable from now on

I keep selling dollars rallies

Likely short term spikes or sell for dollar.still not happened as eu drop to further lows.anyway black friday may give some hints.so closing every trades also though some are long term ones & ready for probable shift for few days only , 5 days up if possible , 5 days start down again so that price stand same after 10 days / almost month end or few hundred down .lets see , take care,fontu

Something is about to go down

Hard to tell, but i'm seeing 1,21+ in the coming months

Until US President Donald Trump’s interview yesterday the aftermath of Fed Chair Jerome Powell's assessment over the past few days that gradual rate hikes were “for now” the correct approach for the Fed were the main driver during a trading day rather short of momentum. Powell’s optimism fuelled demand for the dollar as other central banks are much more nervous in view of possible downside risks resulting from the tariffs conflict with the US. As a result the risk increases that these central banks will normalize monetary policy much more slowly than planned (EU) or ease further (PBoC) which would lead to a less attractive risk reward profile for the respective currencies compared with the dollar. And it was exactly this connection that led to Trump’s criticism: The government puts so much work into the economy, and then he sees interest rates rising. Trump sees a clear disadvantage for the US in an appreciating currency while the euro and the renminbi are falling.

There is no doubt that with these comments the US President once again broke an important taboo: it makes a difference whether a private person or a President criticises the central bank, even if Trump “couldn’t care less” about that. Even if Trump claims that he is “letting them do what they feel is best” there is a risk that the Fed’s decision will increasingly be interpreted in a political manner. Any hesitation, any signs of slower rate hikes, which we expect for next year after all, might be interpreted as a sign that the Fed considers the President’s wishes in its decision making process even if the latter can be justified in an economically credible manner. The independence of the Fed is a not to be underestimated condition for the Fed’s ability to pursue its task as a guardian of price stability in an effective manner. What happens if the FX market questions the independence of the central bank is illustrated very clearly by the example of the Turkish lira: even the smallest indication that the central bank might be caving in to the desires of the President which contravene economic reason can lead to higher exchange rate volatility and that in turn makes the central bank’s work more difficult. The fact that these concerns are not completely far-fetched is illustrated by the dollar’s reaction yesterday: the FX market is quite susceptible to speculation that the President can affect the exchange rate directly and not just via the economic effects of his fiscal policy: through the backdoor, via the Fed at the dollar.

So is the dollar facing the next period of weakness? That seems unlikely to us after all. For the moment at least, there is no sign of Trump actually wanting to put pressure on the Fed and that the Fed would cave in to this pressure. The market’s confidence in the Fed is (still?) too high for this. As a result the FX market is likely to turn its attention back to economic factors again pretty quickly. And they point towards a gradual rise in interest rates that will support the dollar until attractive alternatives in other currencies emerge. That will not happen before year-end in the euro, so that we assume that the dollar will remain strong for now - whether Trump likes it or not.

In FX markets, the USD index was flat overnight but back above the 95.00 level after having recovered from Trump’s latest rant in which he stated he is not happy about interest rates rising and that a strong USD disadvantages the US, which led to the sharp recovery from the EUR/USD.

Option expiries of note for today's 15:00 BST:
EUR/USD: 1.1550 (1.1 BLN), 1.1600 (0.699 BLN), 1.1700 (0.802 BLN), 1.1750 (0.510 BLN) and 1.1800 (0.674 BLN).

On the right track but not out of the woods yet as I hold a long position @ 1.1555 with the targets, first target @ 1.1852 and second target @ 1.2000.
