basket update
Ccfp made 0.99% today. lol i made the mistake of leaving the Manual_Profit_Lock input on 1%. So basket went u 3% and came down and cl0sed out at 0.99%.

Well at the least that means that the Manual_Profit_Lock works!

The total u see for the week is -4.27%.. that is like that cause as i mentioned before an error created a loss of -5.26% yesterday..

Ok Wednesday here we come...

Yes only on Monday for now, I'm still not sure about Wednesday basket so I'll keep checking your results.

For now making 5% on a Monday = 20% pm which is perfect for a set, and forget approach.

Since you have been running this approach live for longer than pretty much on this thread, I wanted to ask you if you have been taking notes as to how often you hit your SL compared to your TP? Would you say it's 3:1 TP's to SL's? better? What do your notes say if you have any? I'm referring to the Monday only strategy 5.5% TP and 10% SL.

Yip been running this strategy live since last year, and adapted it as time goes by, and things evolved. I have noticed a big improvement in the success of the basket using grandaevus's CMSM indicator over the standard CCFp indicator. (thanks grandaevus!)

Over the last 6 months the weekly basket has hit SL only 2 times. I did previously use a hard SL of 10%, but have since removed it. If I see the basket heading towards -10% I'll load up a separate recovery EA that will kick in, and recover the floating -10% to BE.

Considering only hitting 2 SL in the last 6 months that's a 80% success rate so far, making this a pretty robust simple set & forget approach to trading.

Are you referring to a totally separate EA from this strategy or are you starting a second CCFp EA at a different time with different signals? Sorry for all the questions, I am planning on running this strategy as well on my live account. I also have had good success so far forward testing your settings. Thanks mrdfx!

EDIT: Have you by any chance kept any notes as to what your average DD% has been on a week to week basis? This information might allow us to lower the 10% SL, if the strike rate is just as high at, lets say 7% for example.

EDIT: BTW, I have started forward testing Monday Only, 3.5% TP and 7% SL, Level 4 signals. (mrdfx settings) I will keep notes whether or not TP was hit and what the DD% was each week....also how many pairs were traded. This is week #1. I hit my TP of 3.5% and my DD% was around 3.7%. 12 pairs traded total. (I haven't done the exact calculations yet.

You say "I have noticed a big improvement in the success of the basket using grandaevus's CMSM indicator over the standard CCFp indicator." ... so in your comparison do you automatically allow the selections to be opened or is it discretionary ... reason I ask as I have read before that you use your own discretion according to your set rules?

The best way is to trade with manageable lot sizes and leave trades to run and gather more pips. In so doing we shall drain the banks.

My take profit levels are at the nearest whole number or quarter numbers e.g 000, 250.500, and 750 ,these round numbers are strong support and resistance lines which are normally targeted by investors.

As regards sl, this depends on the distance between my order price and the nearest round number or quarter number.

It's always good to give the trade more room to play if you want to stay in the market longer.

Yes I utilize different EA from this strategy, its purpose is to recover trades in loss, and bring them back to BE.

As for the SL I had initially set a hard stop of 10% as I noticed that sometimes the basket will go into DD, and swing back to TP, so the 10% is to allow enough room for the basket to breathe. When you trading with multiple pairs you need to allow enough room for them to move.

I have not kept notes of DD%, but I have observed that most weeks the DD will float between 2-7% before hitting TP. Its not set in stone though so using a tighter SL% would not be a good idea. I do get what you trying to do and increase the RR ratio, but using a tight SL on a basket of pair would not work out well IMO long term.

Yes I allow all trade suggestions to be opened by the EA via the VB.

There are some parameters in the EA settings which will somewhat filter some trades out.

A mere 5.5%? Well that's a matter of personal opinion, and dependent on how you trade.

I have a trade plan, and set of rules, and targets which I stick to. I stick to my plan, and my account survives and grows steadily. I don't aim to catch 1000's of pips as its not necessary to succeed in this game, setting targets an sticking to your plan will.

Lets use this example, I set a "mere" 5.5% weekly target, that's over 20% pm with hardly any effort, a mere +20% growth for doing almost nothing.

Over and above this, and used together with my other strategies I trade, and my account grows nicely, and steadily each month.

Happy you made lots of pips, keep it up.

Oh, I wasn’t aware that you used the Vb in your trading strategy. I thought you just set the indi to level 4 and start it on Monday at your set time and shot for 5.5%. If you wouldn’t mind sharing your strategy that would be very helpful, but if you don’t want to , I totally understand.

Here is the set file of how I use the EA. You will need to adjust the lot size, and put a SL % if you want to.

As for the CMSM indicator settings, its pretty self explanatory as can be seen on post #13660.

As for the VB, yes I was not using it before, but I've found that it helps as an additional "safety net" should the basket open, and go straight into loss.

Kamaanya:
Please keep us informed. One particular setting that comes to mind is the manual profit lock. We can tell the EA to lock profit at BE or whatever value after the basket has reached x profit. This could be used to let the basket run risk free similar to what you are doing.
