As of today, I have stopped trading. This requires a solution outside of mt4 which will take some time and I am not sure this retail industry is worth my time anymore. I rather go the API route.

very simple solution:

use 2 prime brokers!
you simple open opposite trade in other broker, when you cant do it in the other. and close it later by open new trade with closing the trade side you dont use any more.
very simple, you only need one programm to manage the trades and control both brokers, very easy task.

Hmm...I completely lost you. Can you give me an example ? My trade volume is over 250 every week.

250 million, lot, trades....?

2 brokers: you trade both as one, when one dont react (what was your problem because of connection), close trade with opposite trade in other broker. and when open new trade look if trades are open and close this first before new opened..... and so on.

250 closed trade executions per week plus approx 50-60 open positions running across 28 pairs. In a good week, it could reach a 1000+ trades. Apart from the increased cost of trading across 2 brokers, this solution won't work without redesigning my EA to keep track of which one is open/closed etc.

The problem here is the underlined..."when one dont react". My EA runs every tick so when disconnect happens, it sits there doing "nothing". Better option might be to run EA on a timer like every second, check change in server time and then send a push notice if there is no change.

of course on tick is no good solution.
only possible on tick, when you have a programm to watch the incoming ticks and react when there is a problem.

and of course your programm need to be redesigned, so just 2 days working and its on a 2-3 steps better solution for multibroker support. you can use second broker only for exits, or for entries too, whatever. its unimportant if you have 10 trades or 1 million trades in one week, because all is done by automatic and so without any problem (if programmed ok).

solution is extrem simple, if you want to do and if its worth for your trading amount and result, that only you know and can decide.

If I dump MT4 client and go the route of FIX API (for order executions only), wouldn't that be a better option for me? I am sick of retail brokers so that has always been the next progression step for me. Perhaps it is time now than later.

Please tell me if this is a stupid approach....Do all analytics, generation of trade signals etc still in MT4 (with same or different broker) and then send open/close orders via API. Even though my volumes are significant, latency, slippage, spreads etc have no significant significance to my overall performance.All my trade decisions is based on closing price so it really makes no difference if the price feed is off be few pips here and there. I am a volume trader so single trade does not make any dent to my account. If I do this then I am pretty much hiding my entire strategy from my primary broker right?

Go to the futures market on the CME. As an American, you will have no problem to find a local futures broker. Probably also better than to end up with withdrawing problems with an offshore broker accepting to do business with US customers (I would pretty much think this is a red flag seen the risks involved with doing it. You can't be a totally legit broker and expect to be in business in the long run when you engage in such a behavior. There sure must be some exceptions)

We are not much talking about Pepperstone here ;( We should probably be in another thread dedicated to these plug-ins.

strategy cant be hided in this way effective.
if you want to hide a strategy:
- use more then 1 broker
- open many strategies over the 2 brokers and close in other broker he trades, later reopen by closing 1 of the 2 open brokers position.... and so on
- simple way to programm and most efficient

fix api is often better, but only for bigger volume really better. for normal volume until 1 million per trade its not extrem better. if you trade 1 mio (10lot) or more per trade, you want fix api. but simple mq4 programm can all do, what a fix api can do, if programmed in a good way, thats for sure. only the intern metatrader time gap for execution you cant improve with mq4 brokers of ofcourse or some intern metatader connection time and processes, with fix api you have the advantage to use many prime brokers.

Thanks man. I have not looked at multi broker strategy but I will say that my EA when run on two or more accounts in parallel will almost always produce different trades resulting in different results (by design). It is designed to be upward scalable instead of downward...by that I mean, more capital, more exposure and better results. I have put in a lot of thought on this design but as with any automation, mine requires a darn connection with the broker :-(
Anyways, I will leave this thread and figure out next steps. Retail Spot FX is just not a good place to be. It is time to move out!

then take one Prime account (when you use 100k-500k as minimum balance for testing, depends on prime account broker) as beginning and test and put in as many LP as you want and all from this. when the decoy is quite good for the connected banks they give extrem good spreads, better then any retail you can have now. and connection and filling time is much much much faster, against when you use metatrader at the moment.

but this pugins are part of the total basics of any trader, that you should learned already in basics learning before you start any trading. this plugins are there for many many years and many many times mentioned and shown. same that any trading beginner knows, that any broker can do anything in his software, and will do when its his advantage and possible to do without problems, like many people do same with the trading programms................................................................


My argument, newbies would not know about the MT4 plugin. VEEFX didn't know.
So I find it ironic that a Scam hunter that hunts for Scammers to protect newbies and the less knowledgeable would insist that a broker has every right to use the Mt4 plugin to possibly manipulate price, in doing so 'arranging' for SL to get hit, missing set TP's, candle manipulation,... Call me cynical but I would call that scamming.
I have to say that searching through the various rules and regs on my broker I can't see any evidence to suggest that they use or have the right to use the plugin.
If they do use it, then they are Scamming the customer.
Surely this investigation should be top priority on your scamming thread.....
Your insistence that traders should find out for themselves that brokers have a right to use the plugin to fleece the market, is in itself, a worry.

How to connect to your Pepperstone cTrader account?

1) select the сTrader Gateway in Quantower's Connection Manager and click Connect.

2) an authorization window appears for connecting to cTrader API where you need to Log in with your cTrader ID and it's password
