Pronunciation is a choice? Not necessarily! Culture has way more to do with it than personal choice and is why Brits speak the way they do and Americans speak the way they do. So I am not sure I agree with your correction.

The police don't have bigger guns. See photo. This guy took out five cops by himself. Then later was captured and shot dead. Point is, a well arm, well regulated militia is a lethal one, and there are many in the US, so not sure the Police would stand a chance, even the Military for that matter, but that is an entirely differnt debate (see Afghanistan as a primary example)

Hmm, Croydon seems like it has really changed over the years. BTW if you are hemmed in a car within traffic, laying on the horn is useless, and so is the car. Do you stay in the car or run for your life if it was in danger?

No, what we vote for is the party. The leader of the party is elected by the MP's. If 48 letters of no confidence are presented, then there is a leadership challenge, which hopefully is very, very soon! Mogg is the favourite, I think, to replace May.

Re. the CoC: maybe it's the first pic? It is considered racist here to compare black people to monkeys/ chimps.

If I was on my own, of course I would run, but I can't do with kids. Then what? Croydon is South London. London has changed beyond all recognition.

Having a gun in that situation sounds useful, but then that crazy nut job would have a gun too and would have blasted through the car window. Anyhow, you know I don't really drive through London anymore (I used to drive into town 3-4 times a week). These days I park in Canary Wharf and get the Jubilee line, much more civilised.

I recommend Andorra (never been there myself). It seems to have at least three things you would enjoy: tax haven (?), near France, plenty of skiing.

Life is fine here in rural Cambridgeshire. If you have kids in school in the UK, "tax haven" status doesn't really work. They know! My two top bolthole spots are the Gironde region - it's not the South of France which gets the attention - and the French Alps, both of which are a long way from the sights of globalisation. The French seem to apply much more common sense to everything and their Police are useful, not like our fat blobs, even in the days when they had the correct intentions.

Hmm quite a departure from what I am used to within the American system whereas we vote for the candidate regardless of party, although there are party
loyalists within our system but what has been custom in the past that we accept the will of the people and respect the voting process. But that seems to be changing in some respects with the recent advent of the left self destructing, as I am sure you are seeing as well.

Perhaps on second thought I may have refrained from posting that, however I don't view the cartoon as racist, but a rebuke of political correctness more than anything. Also the whole notion of monkeys and people of color as a comparison seems rather stilted towards derogatory due to past references of people who uses such comparisons when in reality, the left more than anyone, as well as those who embrace the evolution theory would suggest that we all monkeys regardless of the inferences being made as racist. Anyway that is my view, and certainly didn't interpreted that cartoon as being such. Nevertheless I probably won't do it again.
