That matters indeed for certain trading styles, e.g. scalping, or HF automated trading.

I am not sure what some of you are doing. Oanda has some of the best spreads especially if you get a premium account which you should have anyway. Playing the markets with chump change gets you nowhere. Yes spreads go up when liquidity is low such as between markets opening and closing as well as major news times. That is how the real market works. ECNs, real inter-bank spreads all do the same thing. It is impossible for fixed spreads 247. That is why some brokers freeze during news times, they do that because the platform cant handle it or the do it intentionally to keep you out so they do not lose money. The fact some of you complain about that fact is proof you have no idea what you are doing or even understand how the FX market even functions.

Your job is to outwit your broker and other traders. If you cant do that, go get a regular job and stop whining. Oandas execution on trades is the absolute best I have seen when you execute through FX trade directly. In 12 years I have NEVER got a re-quote or bad fill. The execution time is is >5MS on average.

So please, learn how to trade, stop tying to sound smart and get over it.

Sounds like you work for Oanda and are doing your best to promote.

Oanda was my first broker I used years ago.

I experienced regularly during periods of volitilty ie news reports spread increasing to 20-40 pips which often takes out peoples stop losses and gives bad entry/exits.

I also had some trouble withdrawing my money from the account.

The execution and fill was good I agree, never had an issue there.

I personally wouldnt recommend as I have experienced better providers now.

I do not work for them and this is not a promotion but defending a decent broker from the typical rookie rants.

Not sure what country you are from but in the USA we only have 3 choices and in my opinion, Oanda is the best out of the 3 until you reach a larger amount of money, basically $1 million & up.

What broker do you use? If its not Oanda, Gain Capital or Interactive Brokers I can not use them anyway. I will not go offshore unless it is a real bank. I.e. Dukascopy Bank.

No one is going to put anything more than chump change in a spread better. Then you say this [emboldened].

Yes, my findings have been based on chump change as a point of scale. Indeed if you increase your sizes then you have to think about much longer timescales. From my experience this is unreasonable due to wild skews in weekly closes and opens.

Yes i'm not from the USA so maybe I have better choices.

I had a account with them as well as Oanda until July 2011. That is when they moved all US traders to US "Partners". Instead, I moved my funds to Oanda.

It is to bad, I really liked them.

For Forex, business as usual. Anything else is closed if related to USA trading

Anyone using Oanda's MT4? I'm trying to load 5min chart but it's only giving me the month of May. For 1min chart, it's even worse - only showing a few weeks of history. How do I load all the data?

Which pair? On EURUSD, M5, i get data back to 3/28/18 and for M1 5/9/18
Go to Tools>Options>Charts and check Max bars in chart and Max bars in history settings. It might solve your problem.

I tried that too, but doesn't seem to work. Their rep over chat said the only way to get full historical data is to retrieve it via their v20 API.

OANDA´s spreads are coming to the point of being ridiculous:
Check this, just after London close, N. York is full on right?
EURAUD: almost 8 pips
USDCAD: almost 6 pips.
Talk about a greedy broker spooking clients.
I will close my account for good soon...just looking for altenatives.
