Squash is the strangest game I played. I didn't play until 25 and yet almost felt addicted to play more and more and, oh yeah then a broken tib and fib playing football put paid to that and then the small issue of a fractured spine 9 months later .
I can laugh about it now because I finally recovered and today am still able to do 10 k's on the sand. Unfortunately it put payed to the footy and squash for enough months that I didn't return to either.
I am with you on doubles squash: never tried never wished to. I am still not sold on your preference to ski ,. I know this is pathetic but my biggest concern with skiing is simply falling over and taking out a knee. They take so long to heel

What I loved so much about squash were all the different permutations on how the ball bounced off the walls. There weren't many women playing the game at all, so I mostly played men. I had developed the most infuriating serve; I could get the ball to drop sticking to the side wall, from too high to reach, then dead into the corner, within a few cm, with no bounce at all Men's games are all slam slam and my game is all drops, lobs and volleys, lol. Fun times!

Not ever broken a bone, but having kids puts paid to things a lot. Before kids I was running with a club, 20-30 miles a week and racing 10k's. I was also playing squash 3 times a week. My 10k best is 42:30 - don't think I could get near that these days; I have no inclination to do that level of training again. Anyhow, too much outdoor running is not good for your face and I like my face the way it is!

I think you mentioned once your ex sister in law accusing of being lucky to be slim !! what a joke, people have no idea. As I said when you just love doing this stuff there is no way to be fat.
Your 10 K time seems f*ing quick. I run on soft sand and it takes me around 70 minutes
In fairness I only started running more than a mile about 4 years ago and my wife could leave me for dead back then
She was getting ready for the London marathon (that's my excuse )
Us guys don't have to worry so much about the elements on our boyish looks

It makes you wonder how the rest of the flock will be swayed when he is no longer there
At least he raised their awareness of alternative possibilities.
The strange thing is; if the leaders were humane in the right ways, it was possible with such power and resources to have achieved almost a utopia for the citizens. Instead it has been run with the same stupid ideals as the individual nations who continue to leave the real wealth gaurded and circulated amongst the few.
I do however still hope the EU works out well in th long term.

EU is a socialist ponzi scheme. It has been great for Germany especially with the Euro, effectively devaluing the D'Mark. But for all other countries it has only had the effect of making all EU countries equally uncompetitive.

Not only is that a flawed premise to begin with, but most of these limousine latte drinkers sitting as council representatives probably never worked a day in their lives as they have no clue of the real world as their insular bubble they reside in doesn't allow them to know street smarts or let alone to have one iota what the social issues of the day that are affecting ordinary people. Imagine the shear arrogance of these people! Puke!

12 miles on the mountain bike done and dusted this morning I am just loving this weather! My 10k time is road, nothing like sinking in sand! I used to enter races trying for PB's and went for flat ones which are mostly coastal. But I always got it windy! Wind really buggers me, lol.

When skiing hard for 7 hours a day I reckon I can easily burn 5000 calories. Half an hour after stuffing my face I am hungry again. It gets to be quite a pain! The funnier thing is that my brother is really the male equivalent of me and has very low body fat. He is a semi pro cyclist and trains 15-20 hours a week. His wife is at least twice my weight and shorter than me. She sits around all day and eats what he eats! Lol. I have asked this before and never ever had a satisfactory answer: why do skinny men like fat women? I can't ask my brother.

It's crazy only because of the school holidays. Half term and Easter breaks are the same in France as in the UK. It gets crazy in the US too! However we do have a lot more slopes than you do. I can't do anytime other than school holidays. However, black runs are never busy!

Sure, I'd race you anywhere! Not downhill if you're on skis because you have the weight advantage. Bigger means faster - all to do with wind resistance. Volume is proportional to weight, wind resistance is based on area, surface area. Squared:cubed ratio is smaller, hence you will go faster. But snowboards are crap for speed!

Spooky, you mountain biked this a.m. I just got back from a shorter 7 miles ride 5 mile run and yes beautiful weather and no wind is my favourite recipe also. I hope we have a really long summer

A lot more slopes? I did not know that. I boarded a lot in the US and Whistler in Canada and we have quite a few. Colorado of course, but also New Mexico, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, California, but out of all those Utah, without a doubt has the best powder!
