Hi Tekkies,

I've dabbled with Indicators in the past but have always felt more comfortable without them.

Divergence and Cableway are Trading Tick Charts in more or less the same way I Trade M5/M1 Charts.

I learnt a lot of the nuts and bolts of Trading from Nial Fuller, also, but I don't really get on with the Higher Time Frames.

Learn to trade and trade the 5-Method

When I started here in Forex Factory in 2011, I started to learn about Trading Made Simple TMS by X-Man.

Reason for me was simple, both X-Man and I share the same belief that trading Price Action is king and we also believe in the minimal use of technical indicators and it was the use of the RSI for seeing price momentum behind the price movements. From that time on, I dropped the MACD and Stochastic but kept the use of the RSI and replacing with the Fozzy-RSI are some like to give that a new name Traders_Dynamic_Index.

Here are two pdfs which are meant to help new struggling traders.

Whether you believe TDI is king or PA is king, only your own trading results will prove your belief.

All these above mentioned is how I look at using one indicator - Price Action.

- previous high / low ... swing high / swing low using the APB/HA colours to see the phase change in the price.

- short term and long term trend... multi-timeframe analysis, use tripe screen technique (by Dr. Alexander Elder) or simply use three timeframes for Dominant/Primary Trend, Intermediate Trend and Short term Trend.

- consolidation area ... use price bar or Candlestick pattern to identify the consolidation areas,

- previous candle small ... use the price envelop like the 5SMMA High Low as visual filer to see candle size.

- candle at last reversal... use price bar pattern or candlesticks pattern for reversals. Keep It Simple, use not more that 5 of such patterns is more than enough.

- momentum... again it can be seen with the price bars or candlesticks patterns.

What do newbies to TMS need to learn first?

many of you knew that I started in FF learning from other threads. One is the James16 chart thread and the other is PASR.

When you read Big E's Post#647, it is all about price action trading applied to his TDI.

Three most important things which I learned from strat's old thread when he was a professional trader has his own website.

If you had done these for years like me, you will be as good as I am. Just a matter of time and the commitment you put into learning to trade.

Price Action, Price Action, Price Action,...

What is Price Action to me? I keep it simple by looking at just a few price bar patterns becasue I look at the Price Bar chart with the APB/HeikenAshi candles in the background.

To succeed in trading with TMS 5-Method you need to have a lot of experience in price action trading and how to recognise the market conditions.
This is what Big E wrote in his post#647.
what to define as big candles, small candles,
how to see short term trend, long term trend,
how to see consolidation,
how to locate support and resistance, etc.
You need to develop your technical edge using Post#647.
Without a technical edge, most people will not likely to make it to the next level to become better traders.

Knowing a few price bars/candlestick patterns will help you identify the above and develop your edge.

Weekly Control Candle WCC is original strat's The PATH.
see strat's post #276 in his new thread.

WRB is well know from the study website which I previously provided the link in this thread. This is more for advance traders.

Differences between WCC and WRB
WCC is seen only in Weekly timeframe.
WRB can be seen in every timeframe from M1 to MN. But do not over do that, I only look at WRB in my trading timeframes - W1, D1, H4, H1 and M15.

WCC is not always a 'big' candle. WCC will control the trading range until there is clear breakout of that range. Most effective when trading the D1 chart.

WRB must always a big candle following the criteria that the WRB must the largest candle of the two previous candles.

Both the WCC and WRB are just two simple ways to look at the market conditions for us to pick our trades. Big E had been very clear with three things in his Post#647. .
1) Do Not trade when the PA is in CONSOLIDATION or when near CONSOLIDATION.
2) Avoid trading when near to support and resistance.
3) Know your short term and long term trends.

If you have a consistent approach to the above, you will most likely do well in trading like Big E did.

Other than WCC and WRB, there are a few other price bar patterns which I use. These are also big candle and small candles by BIG E definition.
BEOB/BUOB
BUEB/BUEB
DBHLC/DBLHC
IB/DIB
PB
MC[3].
Just these few which are most common and do not overwhelm yourself with more than these few. Keep It Simple.
