Looks like the big boys are looking for any reason to push this higher and short up higher and get better value. Better than expected NFP numbers this morning, by all means lets use this to push it up, up, up. Now here come the retail traders trying to get in long thinking a new move is on its way.

The move was predictable, unfortunately the entry was not. Anyone get in this obvious move up to short from higher up and if so what was your entry signal?

As for the North American Fart Filled Trade Agreement, I as well am a byproduct of my parents love for the Beatles. During the birth of the agreement, I was completing my MBA(major in Finance and Marketing) and the great minds of the time who were filling our heads with their wisdom and knowledge actually got it right.
Their analysis at the the time, before any repercussions could be seen was that eventually the US and Can would turn into "service" economies, as a huge percentage of the manufacturing base of both countries would flee to cheaper labor markets. At the time, we obviously couldn't determine the wisdom of their vision, but they were right. I can't guesstimate the total number of jobs lost or plants shut down, but I know, just by the sheer magnitude of the pummeling Detroit went through, that my numbers would surely be on the conservative side. The gov'ts of the day opened the door for corps to produce goods at a fraction of the cost, and once consumers tasted lower prices, the problem accelerated at a faster pace. Today, everyone wonders where all the manufacturing jobs went, and hopes for their return. How in the world can a consumer used to buying a t shirt for 3 bucks on sale at Wal Mart, pay 12 bucks for the same shirt today. It's a huge problem which affects everyone. We won't even get into automated plants and the need for only 10% of the workforce. I don't have the answers for the future, but the world is entering a new phase of productivity and production, and unfortunately their isn't much room for the common laborer. Quite a conundrum!!

Steel has it's own unique properties. It's still relatively cheap to produce and very expensive to transport due to it's weight. So many of the manufacturers didn't find it prudent to relocate to the cheaper labor markets. The largest parts of the trade deficits aren't from steel. This again is just pandering to Mr T's base who can't necessarily see the forest for the trees. Everything ,including trade is negotiable, but shouldn't be done in an open and public forum in front of the world to scrutinize. That's what backdoors and back channels are for. I've said my piece!

Thanks man. The last piece I couldn't put together was why after news you would see price appear to reverse the previous longer move strongly, then all of a sudden to a 180 and back in the direction of the original longer term trend an hour later. Thanks to you I understand what is going on. I spend so much time studying charts, I think my ability to analyze price action and S/D is top notch, but I was missing other things. It seems to be coming together over the last few weeks thanks to your comments.

Yea, the long term outlook is what exactly will humans do when we can no longer sell our labor. What will humans do when machines can do everything. Right now you have the globalists saying "learn to code". As someone who has coded for 18 years, I can tell you most people simple don't have what it takes to code and you might as well be saying "let them eat cake".

We have lost 6,000,000 manufacturing jobs since NAFTA was signed. Those people didn't disappear. They, their kids, and many others that depended on them went on to the govt. dole. I can't blame them one bit, your job got shipped overseas so some Wall Street fat cat could make an extra million a year he will never spend, so you got to feed your family and the only option is welfare.

And yes, the Democrats paying for voters through welfare and the Republicans thinking there is no limit to military spending is a large chunk of the blame. But NAFTA deserves its share of the blame.

My biggest criticism of Trump is $700 billion spent on Military in his first year.

There are some threads connecting everything. However, can't remember a Prez ever lowering taxes during wars, thank you Mr Bush and Mr T. Economics 101 says they should be raised to pay for them. No question the US created the situation they are in today, with all the corruption, war machine and the nature of the politicians, is it any wonder?

I am okay with anyone going out and making millions, hell I am trying to do the same. But it isn't going to work when you do it by paying off politicians to slash jobs for the middle class, then expect the rest of the middle class to foot the bill through higher taxes for the welfare. That is essentially what the big boys have been doing and they are running out of middle class to squeeze to pay for it all.

There is a big difference in busting your butt and making a nice chunk of money v. paying off politicians to screw over your fellow country men and basically just steal it.
