This has to be the funniest! The fed supports raising the debt ceiling in a timely manner. Duh! Not one member of congress even bothers to ask how the hell this debt is supposed to be paid back! Anyone have a clue?

Closing in on $21 trillion. I wonder how much longer China will buy US Treasury bonds. At this rate they could threaten to stop buying our bonds if we don't do as they please. I know they only own like 8% of our debt, but that is still a sizable chunk when we can't control our spending.

Is this why the treasury's rates have been increasing because no one wants them.

My guess is they have been raising due to the economy looking slightly better and they want any reasone possible to raise them after being so low for so long to make them look like a better investment.

The big issues impacting the economy have not been addressed, so what recovery we are seeing due to the tax cuts will fade out if further action is not taken. And that further action is probably too much for the US public to handle at a democracy voting level.

This is what I understand but I would figure the government would not want to pay a higher interest rate if they could avoid it.

Besides foreign buying, bond yields also increase when investment flows away from the markets, or as uncertainty in the markets increases. It's seen as a flight to safety, or a place to park your money when out of the stock market!

But do the rates not work in reverse where the more volume and interest in purchasing the lower the rates you can get.

my target 107.3 was reached, it could go to 107.8 and then 108.5 next
