So maybe: how many pips do you need to gain 100%?

Question: Has anyone here been profitable while trading a news strategy consistently for a year? Not counting a few lucky trades....

If yes, which broker are you using??

vvFish does that! There seems to be no secret, only practice, practice and practice.

Today:

and btw. regarding GBPNZD if you have let's say 3.5 pips spread and its daily range is 250 pips it still looks worse than for example GBPUSD where the spread is let's say 1.0 pips and daily range 100 pips:

3.5 / 250 = 0.014
1 / 100 = 0.01

What do you think?

Hey JD, your GU trades today is very good!
Post more charts as you trade, not only the news spike but also pre and post the spike.
People try to focus too much on the spike but if one wants to make a living, spike itself alone is not a very good idea, imo, because of the difficulty of guessing the direction, spread widening, slippage, requotes, etc. and above all the overall pips one would get is a small 5 pips - 20 pips only.
I believe trading around news is the way to go and imo this thread does not limit the posting to spike trade only.
Re GU vs. GN what I think is the volatility that GN gives. Also if you look at the csDash currency strength meter, Aud and Nzd are often at the extremes, providing easier read of the pick up of pairs and trend. I watch W, D and H4 of csDash as a confirmation.

vvFish is an example and I know of many others.
As for the broker, just check the spread on vvFish's posts. It does not seem to be ecn.
I trade with both on ecn and stp brokers and if you trade all pre and post news times, any broker will do, imo.
