Just a thought, but why doesn't anyone combine the crossover idea together with Divergence? Both Regular for trend change and Hidden for trend continuance. Once it is present (and it wants to be a strong dose in the case of Regular), then trade the next crossover, as opposed to trying to get the first cross...

I don't trade forex and I don't trade 4hr charts I use 512 tick charts in futures but the principle is still the same the tdi would have kept me out of these 4 trades in 30 minutes of trading for about 100 pips you be the judge

I want to mark on my charts when each session begins and ends. I am on EST but my broker uses GMT+2. Do I mark the sessions according to my current time zone or my broker's time zone? So confused.... :-(

Thank you, I will try to do some better. The original strategy is already very good and you have to cover it with some intelligence manual reactions. Sure there will be also some bad days, but important is the total outcome in a longer period. The TMS do not help traders with inpatient behave and fast in-out jumpings, especially in higher TF So lets continue the same and wish to make the correct mixture.

You sold right into a danger area, because you look at the TDI only, instead of looking at the whole chart. Next time, take a better look and be more careful.

There is PA there, which you do not like. Candles 1 and 2 are BEEB pattern, and candles 3 and 4 are BEOB pattern.

When I stopped using the TDI, I still had it on my chart and I was looking at divergence. I preferred the hidden ones, as they are with the trend, and when I spotted the regular ones, I waited, because (as John Hayden says) regular divergence marks a pullback coming, so it's counter-trend. Therefore, I waited for the retrace to finish, and then enter. I like you're thinking.

Instead of saying "look at the candles at the last reversal, are the candle big, little, or what..."

We use simple and specific names which are commonly adopted by traders in the trading community.

"big and small or little,..." are subjective.
What looks like big to you may be small to others.
What looks like small to you may be big to others.

Anyway, we did not create those price bar patterns. These are found in many trading books.
FF member strat uses these in his "The PATH".

John Hayden did not invent the TDI. He wrote that RSI book.
He created what want then commonly know as Fozzy-RSI.
Before him was another well know trader/author/coach ... in the 1970's
But when we use the RSI, divergence between price and its momentum shown by the RSI is one of several things we can look for and to trade them.

Traders Dynamic Index aka TDI is just one of those fancy names created for marketing reasons to sell, sell, sell,.......
Ask yourself why use 68-level and 32-levels on the TDI?
Why not simply use the most common defaults in the RSI lke 70 and 30 levels.

Is 68 more accurate than 70 and is 32 more accurate than 30?

BTW, there are few RSI indicator with divergence signals. You don't need to buy that TDI with divergence.

I like to put it in different way,

Price Action trading is leading edge over the use of the lagging technical indicators including the TDI which are derived from the price and its action.

After 5 years of active trading, you should be confident to demote the TDI and use more PriceAction in your trading.

look carefully when you are selling USD. it needs a correction before the next big move.

Trading is all about probability market moves from demand (more buyers ) to supply ( more sellers) when you couple it with market structure you have a road map of whats moving the market. when you learn this then TRADING WILL BE SIMPLE
