So by that assumption if it it would be viewed as still from space when it matches the earths speed then that means if it was going the other way it would cover twice the distance ie with the rotation as it is now doing 1300mph. But the reality is say for travel between NY and London flight time is roughly the same, both ways. Will have a scout around online to see if I can find something to model this. It doesn't sit right with me. If it is relative to earth and atmosphere I would have thought it would remain...Ignored
Actually it takes longer going to NY than back and that is because of the Gulf Stream, nothing to do with the rotation. The atmosphere is rotating with the earth, so on a plane it isn't relevant as you are well within that.
And if the oceans heated up enough, why wouldn't they boil? If they boil enough, the water turns to steam. It's not a matter of opinion, it is fact. No different to water in a pan.
