On the weekly chart, you've hit a significant level, hence the hesitation.

I am looking at a long-bias across all time-frames but I agree, that can go wrong when price is pushing the extremes. In these cases, it's more like ''hey, dude, it'll go long...eventually...'' before it shrugs its shoulders in an overly dramatic French way and slopes off for a Gauloise.

It looks like you'd have got the job done using WZ-Tech (and in-and-out as quick as you could) but done vanilla, it's just hanging about inside the range.

Good call to step back on that one, methinks.

One thing before I go - didn't trade it but for the record, here's how today's B*A*D-Trade would have gone, both WZ and Vanilla entries marked (no directional bias recorded).

Not too shabby...

Many ways to trade the news - I'll give you an insight into what I do.

The pairs I'm watching at the moment are g/u, e/g, e/j, u/c.

Only trading high impact (red) during London open hours relating to GBP, EUR, USD, CAD.

Plenty opportunities there. Usually 9.30, 13.30, 15.00 in BST - (watch out the clocks change this weekend in the UK so NY be an hour earlier).

News results are no interest to me as by the time FF get the stats the move has happened - Bloomberg subscribers will have the info minutes beforehand.

Watch the price in the 15 minutes or so running up to the news release. Many times it will be pushed in the opposite direction. Take orders either side of the current price and move them as the price moves into the release. Keep orders 10 to 15 away from the price to reduce risk of both opening.

Safer way of trading news is take the price say five minutes before the release and put an order in direction of the general trend. Hard stop and t/p with risk/reward say 1:3 or above.

Nothing new here but with a bit of thought you only need to work 30 minutes a day (theoretically !).

So, basically watching price action in the 15 minutes or so before release and looking to pick up at least one big move a week. That's all you need.

i think news trading has a lot of merit as long as you are aware of it.
Same as hitting the retrace off the NFP.

Trade Cable Fri, i smashed the 08-00 15 bar and took no prisoners, that was after hitting the 04-00 bar.
The 04-00 bar had too many good stats to be left alone lol.
