Higher highs not obviously all time highs. But CAC40 new highs for the move off Sept lows, FTSE100 closed above previous 3 trading days and points away from high for the move. Busting out all over here in the U.S. including R2K up +.67% presently.

I don't see any weakness across the board ... yet.

OK, but CAC40 got life only by being solidly weighted into Euro Stoxx 50 and following DAX up. The FTSE looks set to close the third red day in a row.

The point is that there's a divergence developing between DJI and SP500 vs the rest of the world, except N225.

One might want to explain that by the US GDP growth rate, but then there's the R2K divergence, and Sweden - the European country with the highest GDP growth over a long period of time - hasn't taken out highs from earlier in the year OR early October.

Then there's the morning/afternoon divergence. For most of October, European markets have sold off in the morning, and have been bought in the afternoon during the US session.

So economic fundamentals don't seem to explain the October divergence.

close manually at even. Nothing to do with Dow today.

Reason for short was the dis-armony with the other usa indexes and europe, and most the points was due to IBM,so i looked for a oportunity to go short.

On this passing of a 3 year low in intraday volatility, I felt some nostalgia for what it used to be like.

This is a 15 minute chart from May last year.

You are not the only one. I have forsaken Dax for Cable .....its 125 pts 10 ADR vs only 88 pts in Dax has persuaded me to move....

30 years ago to this date we had the Flash Crash of October 1987.

It started in Hong Kong.

And in the last 2 hours the Hang Seng was dumped 500pts.

The Algo's rule the Equities markets.

Having Said that... The Central Banks are backing this bull run still, question is at what level do they intervene.
