An indicator derived from Bollinger Bands that I call %b can be of great help, using the same formula that George Lane used for stochastics. The indicator %b tells us where we are within the bands. Unlike stochastics, which are bounded by 0 and 100, %b can assume negative values and values above 100 when prices are outside of the bands. At 100 we are at the upper band, at 0 we are at the lower band. Above 100 we are above the upper bands and below 0 we are below the lower band. See Figure 7 for the exact formula.

Indicator %b lets us compare price action to indicator action. On a big push down, suppose we get to -20 for %b and 35 for relative strength index (RSI). On the next push down to slightly lower price levels (after a rally), %b only falls to 10, while RSI stops at 40. We get a buy signal caused by price action within the bands. (The first low came outside of the bands, while the second low was made inside the bands.) The buy signal is confirmed by RSI, as it did not make a new low, thus giving us a confirmed buy signal.


Trading bands and indicators are both good tools, but when they are combined, the resultant approach to the markets becomes powerful. Band width, another indicator derived from Bollinger Bands, may also interest traders. It is the width of the bands expressed as a percent of the moving average. When the bands narrow drastically, a sharp expansion in volatility usually occurs in the very near future. For example, a drop in band width below 2% for the Standard & Poor's 500 has led to spectacular moves. The market most often starts off in the wrong direction after the bands tighten prior to really getting under way, of which January 1991 is a good example (Figure 9).

Second Frame shows %b. The third frame shows BBBandWidth.

When I look at Historical Data, I often see consolidation [hesitation] in the 46 to 53 % range as the Price moves to complete it's cycle.
By that I mean, if you plot Fib Extensions on a complete move and Look Back to see what happened as Price approached the 50% area of That Move, What do you see. I often see Compression.

So in my usual attempt to come at things from another direction I thought... Instead of using things like Fib Pivots to show me where a 62% Retaracement From Current Pricing would be.

What if Consolidation happening right now Will be the 46 to 53% of the Next Price Move

So far, I haven't been able to logically define what a "Peak" or a "Trough" is. Is it the high of 4 bars or 40 bars? So it wont plot Automatically [Like Omega].

But if you are willing to identify which Bars those are AND input those Dates & Times, I have a Trendline "Trading System" [No Trading Enabled] that will come close to your request.
**NOTE** It will not plot the line between the 2 points that the Trendline is based on. It will, however, identify them by plotting Bullseyes at those points & then plot the Extension of those 2 points.**
*Also Note* The format of the Date Input is DayMonthYear NOT Month Day Year as displayed by VT Trader. [ Date and Time of Bar can be seen by left click on the bar and looking at Status Bar Below the Chart.]

I will post it in New IND & TS. Import it into Trading System Builder and it will show up in your Custom Trading Systems as TLBAlert.

If you have read the Mouteki thread then you know I have been following it with interest.

I had a few questions at the outset which appeared to be a deviation from the thread and therefore were either not answered or asked.

I did recognize Some Similarity to TD TLs But also that the esscence was similar to an Andrews Pitchfork. {Similar I said.}

So far, I have been unable to code a true Mouteki for VT but I have been somewhat succesfull in a 3 x hybrid. TD, Andrews & Mouteki.

TD allows for Level > 1,2 ...5 Support Resistance {Demand Supply} which counts the number of bars Before AND After the "Nose"

Mouteki {imo} is restricted to 4hr charts because a 5 bar pin shows up way too often in lower timeframes. So I added a Minimum Bars Between Points Input.

Demand must be Upslope. Supply....

So now we have these choices...
1) # of Bars Precedeing and Subsequent to Nose.
2) # of Bars Between Points
3) Choice of applying Supply or Demand Or Both to any given market.
{ I found applying Supply to an Uptrending Market just took up Screen and CPU reserves}

When I combine these 3 systems and overlay it in VT on one of the systems I have been using for quite some time, I get a very nice comfort level of Entry, Hold or Exit.

I know these TS {No Signals Generated} still have a couple o' bugsinem but whenever I could not get exactly what I was asking for, I tried to err on the safe side.

btw. Notice that it is a 5 min chart.

There are some limitations to this TS [No Signals.]
As VT cannot base calculations on a Handrawn Trendline, it requires that theInformation for the Base Trendline be gathered first before it can processthe numbers.

Therefore:
Price Projection.
Calculated as POINT 'A' - Lowest Low between Point 'A' and Point 'B'.
Not the Maximum Deviation From the Base Trendline.
This will result in the Targeted Pip Gain being Slightly Smaller. [Err on the side of Caution]

When the criteria for a Nose Bar has been met, it will place a Dot
Above the Last Bar of The Formation. This means the Dot will Appear 2 Bars After the Nose.

The Trendline Extension will be Based on connecting the Highs 2 Bars Before The Dots.

The User has the Choice of leaving it as a 2 Bar High or changing that to Level 3,4 or whatever...
The User has the Choice of leaving it as Plotting every time the Criteria is met or with a Minimum Number of Bars between Dots.

There are a couple of additional outputs added. If you don't like them, Ignore them.

If I get around to it I will look at the stop loss and possibly add it to the code.

Remember! I know this is not an Exact reproduction of the strategy.
