Just wanted to say that I have been reading through the tread, currently up to page 180!
hope to contribute any way I can.
I jumped in today testing 12 different baskets using multiple windows with the EA and indicator loaded on each.
Everything fired up OK but for some reason after an hour or so all the trades closed, I had not hit any stop losses or Take profits.
I had each window with a different magic number from 1 to 12.

EA is v37.7.7
indicator is ...[v2.0](1)

Any Ideas?

is there a limitation as to how many instances I can use at a time?

I tried changing the magic number to 101...102 etc but same thing happened

Shall I update to the next Beta version?

hey bob:

1. No its not the same. Combine lots does just that combines them. So if u have 3 Eurusd .01 buys and 5 Eurusd .01 sells then u end up with .03 eurusd buys and 0.05 eurusd sells. However when u use the summ option, u sum the lots and u end up with .02 eurusd sells.

2. The flip option is after a real basket is opened. If the EA detects on the original basket that the same trade has changed operation (buy to sell/sell to buy) then theEA will close the opwn trade and open it with the new opposite operation, flip it.

3. For using the add new trade option u dont need to set a range the EA will go into that mode to monitor the list. The same goes for using the flip option no need to go into range mode. Id u use discrete same EA goes into monitor mode basically

That difference steems back to version 11 i think. Long story short the delta has to do with what mt4 reports versus how the pips are calculated. I use the lots in combination with other things to get the pip count. using the percent prpfit is more accurate cause i use that same dollar valueto get the valUe. If i recall the diff had to do with the spreads that are incurred by each pair when u open up the basket. In the EA the calculation is made from the orderlotsize and tickvalue.. so perhaps the spread is not counted in that calculation. Ill take another peak... let ya know

This may be offtopic (definitely is offtopic ) so I apologize in advance.

I am trying to choose between learning mt4 or mt5 coding. I have done a lot of reading and basically many say that mt4 is here to stay since FIFO and "no hedging" have been hardwired into mt5. This means mt5 has been coded for the US traders only and non-US traders will never give up on hedging or accept FIFO. They say unless mt5 allows hedging and does not enforce FIFO it will never win against mt4 outside US.

I would appreciate to know your opinion and to keep the thread clean and ontopic, PM should be the prefered way of talking to me unless the whole thread feels like they should talk about this since their future and the future of all EAs and indicators they have collected over years are in danger.

I am using mt5 from 3 months as normally as BtBoss gave me advise to switch there and start learn as soon as i can
otherwise when the time comes we'll be asking all the same questions ... again
I am using it obviously demo and with some indis been coded by Mladen who had the common sense
to start upgrading indis _
Mt4 won't be out in a few weeks and not even few months.. there are no more updates for it okay
and when many brokers will switch to mt5, then mt4 will still be there, it's just that people won't feel the need to trade with it
when many custom indis will be made for mt5 _
Now waiting for BtBoss as i think he is the first ever coder to make dashboards and Ea's working for Mt5
I was disagreeing with him 3 months ago, but looking what is happening on MqL5 forum that people start to seriously
think about using Indi for Mt5 and Ea, i am feeling a bit like old fashioned now compare to them ...
For now its nice to use all Mt4 stuff, but meanwhile seriously opening a demo and preparing for Mt5

Hi, I think Sum all trades will do that for you. When u select that option it will combine the trades into one. Using your example say you 2 lots of EURUSD buys and 4 lots of Eurusd sells. the EA will combine them into one trade, 1 Sell of EURUSD 2 lots

That is all good, but what do you do about FIFO and hedging? Has mt5 changed to allow those?

Its gonna take a while for Brokers to upgrade their MT4 servers to MT5 servers. the disruption will be costly to them as I involves installation of MT5 servers, ensuring that all of their synchs are in order, and ensuring that the data feeds are in order. That alone is big $$$$. Then you have to deal with all the customers transitions, ensuring that everyone is on board that too will be some $$$..

My experience comes from seeing software companies and the costs associated with just a simple upgrade... This is a major upgrade... The transistion will happen but it will be slow and we should have time to make the needed changes.

Unfortunately here in the states, until the the frank "dud" act is changed or removed we are stuck with FIFO and no Hedging.

It seems that I was wrong. MT5 has worked on allowing hedging, now I am not sure if they still enforce FIFO or not.

will take a lot of time yes, i also know that mt4 will still be there and never die completely ...
brokers for now do not want easily offer mt5
tried already ,,, godzzz knows what is going on there ....
i bet jess you know more than us as you deal with software companies yeah ...

A lot of brokers I know offer both, mt4 and mt5 accounts. The one that I am using (for demo only) is FXChoice and you can open either mt4 or mt5 account. Interestingly, I just found out that FXChoice offers regular mt5 (for US traders probably) and hedging-mt5 (for the rest of the world).

oh mister jess as you are .. just quick quest ...
i dont think that BbSqz was a success and people didn't use it much ...
not about bbsqZ on a dashboard, but on teh Ea as an option _
perhaps implementing and adding something else would be beneficial ...
but i am just saying it, in case you thought of it already _
I have experienced BbsQz in the past but as a pin and was not too bad
though i have to say that too much lag ...

You are right. There is no power greater than that of consumers. They thought they could force non-US traders to give up hedging and accept FIFO since 2010, they were dead wrong. Now they have to bow to the will of non-US traders

I guess I will start learning to code for mt5. Thanks to everyone who gave their thoughts and help me decide.
