Hi Hansfatdwarf, just the regular ones : sma 20 (close) , 2 and 2 for deviations.
I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure...

Hi I like this strategy and is trying out on my demo account.

I was wondering, is it absolutely necessary for SMA to point upwards/downwards?

I have seen set ups that have already crossed the SMA line (bearish) but the SMA is still pointing up and vice versa

Can I still get in if SMA doesn't yet point to the direction we want?

Hi Fated82,

This is not a sect! Demo is a perfect place for experiments.
Thanks for letting us know if you observe a higher ratio of successful trades with or without taking in consideration the SMA orientation.
Personally for instance I prefer in most cases to add MACD confirmation unless the candlestick pattern is really strong.
There are always ways to improve our success rate but we should avoid to fall in the trap of considering this system or any other as a science and trade too mechanically I guess.
This is a statement I heard from Anton Kreil in one of his video of the serial "make me a trader" if I don't mistake and I can just humbly agree 100%.

I entered two days ago my first trades using this method. Short GBP/JPY, shor USD/CHN, Short GBP/USD and long USD/SEK All look good so far.
Not sure about shorting EURUSD, the bull trend is quite strong

Hi Hansfatdwarf, I don't know if you are familiar with this indicator but what convinced me are the monthly and H4 ichimoku charts: rebound below the cloud on the monthly, bearish Tenkan/Kijun crossover on H4.

Hi Filipo,
So you are also using ichimoku on H4 to ensure the eurusd trend has changed? Why H4 instead of H1 or other TF? thank you.

I am shorting this pair based on the strategy. So far after a few rounds of demos using this strategy, it works quite well.

Not systematically, again I am not trying to replicate an EA...
Now regarding timeframes I use daily to identify setups, weekly and monthly for trends. H4 is the smallest meaningful timeframe for my perception of a market means changes in the buyers/sellers proportion, the rest is meaningless for that purpose although lower TFs can be used for other purposes if you want to spend the day on your screen.

Thanks Filipo. Some friends told me to use trending line, but some others suggest ichimoku to identify when the trend is changing. It confused me to decide OP new trade. For the time frame case, i think i need to do some forward test on high TF to get more understanding about your system. Thanks.
