Can someone PLEASE explain to me why The Dollar DROPS in value against the Euro when the U.S. stock market has a good day (like today!).

Here is a short article for your question (Source: Investopedia, http://www.investopedia.com/ask/answ...orrelation.asp), focus especially on bold part which simply emphasizes that even they are correlated but not 1:1 and that the valuation of these two instruments may depend on different variables:

"The correlation between any two variables (or sets of variables) summarizes a relationship, whether or not there is any real-world connection between the two variables. The correlation coefficient will always be between -1 and +1. These two extremes are considered perfect correlations. A negative coefficient means that the two variables, or sets of variables, will move in opposite directions (if one variable increases, the other will decrease); a positive coefficient will mean that the two will move in the same direction (as one increases, the other will increase).

If we compare the US Dollar Index (USDX), an index that tracks the value of the U.S. dollar against six other major currencies, and the value of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), Nasdaq and S&P 500 over a 20-year period, the correlation coefficient calculated for the USDX versus the DJIA, Nasdaq and S&P 500, is 0.35, 0.39 and 0.38, respectively. Note that all of the coefficients are positive, which means that as the value of the U.S. dollar increases, so do the stock indexes, but only by a certain amount. Notice also that each coefficient is below 0.4, which means that only about 35% to 40% of the stock indexes' movements are associated with the movement of the U.S. dollar.

A country's currency can become more valuable in relation to the rest of the world in two main ways: when the amount of currency units available in the world market place is reduced (for example, when the Fed increases interest rates and causes a reduction in spending), or by an increase in the demand for that particular currency. The fact that an increase in the U.S. dollar affects the value of American stocks seems natural, as U.S. dollars are needed to purchase stocks."

The value of American stocks, especially those that are included in market indexes, tend to increase along with the demand for U.S. dollars - in other words, they are positively correlated. One possible explanation for this relationship is foreign investment. As more and more investors put their money in U.S. equities, they are required to first buy U.S. dollars, which can be used to purchase American stocks, causing the indexes to increase in value."

This is already ridiculously overbought, and higher they fly, harder they fall.

That's the reason why I can't emphasize strong enough about the leverage you use. My position is such that I wont even blink if it gets to 1.1500s, I was getting prepared for this setup for the past two - almost three months once it took 1.1020s. I may as well be wrong but am willing to take the risk for a target of at least 400-450 pips.

And man, if you have fear why do you hold onto the trade - you already know that. Just get out of the position and get in when you feel safer with another setup. If another 100 pips will make you quit forex, then you really shouldnt take a swing trade - do scalping instead you will have peace of mind. Nobody can know when the pa will move your way even if technically you were right all along. Get out when you can or reduce your exposure to a level that you can handle more drawdown. My 2 cents.

Let's just focus on 1.1350... check the daily chart I shared.. it is pivot of daily trend.. right now price is above which means: at least the stop loss of longs are safe below it..

If you are short already then focus on 1.14.. maybe you can allow to lose even 20 more pips after that.. and if price goes even higher don't start hoping and praying.. the close button is one click away.. don't be afraid to click it.. you can re-open the short anytime you feel certain again.. no need to worry based on imaginary fear.. my humble opinion and good luck..

Have just found a way to effectively double my leverage from 100 to 200 =P

Hedging account, so long as I have an order open, I can open another one in the opposite direction without margin requirement.

Handy if you can alternate it right through the swing cycle.

Suthmo... dear suthmo.. I will not go into a long speech.. I was there.. Maybe some 5 years ago.. I know your way of thinking.. I know why hedging sounds so attractive.. and therefore to cut the long story short I wanted to say that discovering this logic by yourself shows that you have brains.. that is good news.. now all you need is more time and experience until you discover that hedging is nothing else than an illusion..

Yes when your drawdown is huge the close of trade would lower your equity and then you had to use smaller lot size to open the next trade... so... now you hedged and all you need is closing the opposite trade once you feel ready again.. and you are allowed to have same lot size in the opposite direction.. yes yes.. feels good..

BUT... please think.. what was the real reason that put you in that shitty position in the first place? Why did you allow to have such a big drawdown and why didn't you cut your losing trade earlier? Please learn as good as it gets how to get out as soon as you realize you are in the wrong direction..

Normally you would have one trade opened.. (broker gets his commission or spread gain) and then one trade closed.. (broker gets another spread gain).. but with hedging the price that you pay to your broker doubles.. since it is hidden inside the calculations you don't feel the effect.. but the broker loves hedgers because they literally screw you twice with each hedge..

Anyways.. short and simple: I wish. you also figure out quickly how nonsense hedging is..

Your right, yes I learned that early on that it's not good strategy yes. I don't plan try and profit by hedging no way jose. We don't need no stinking hedges.

But I'm totally hedged right now and if it works you'll never hear the end of it =P

cut one at healthy stop and hope the other one is pointed the right way for the next run.
Back that up with some levels from your wave theory, throw in some probabilities and use sparingly at times when it's not perfectly clear.... Maybe? Just a little?
