Can someone please tell me if this article states that if the rate for NZD IS 1.75% that the NZD would fall - https://www.dailyfx.com/forex/fundam...-See-RBNZ.html

Or am I loosing my brain cells?

Not within next 24 hours but drop it will. There's absolutely nothing running for Euro in short to mid term. Its central bank is far from monetary policy 'normalization', its inflation is and will stay low and its economy has just peaked. Irrational exuberance has been driving Euro for last 6 weeks or so and this 'paper' fuel is slowly dissipating

The thing is - this is the most hawkish statement that we have had for while. Most of the market expected the RBNZ to remain dovish.
Even though they did not hike - the fact that they were not as dovish as they were expected to be - has made the Kiwi spike

The funny thing is that i traded that on a demo account just to see but if it had been real money I would have jumped off my balcony!!!!!!!

Last week they kept the interest rate the same in the UK and i went long and made money. Why on earth didn't i do the same!!! In my head i was telling myself that 1.75% is a good rate as most countries would be happy with 2%. These bloggers don't have a clue.

Its all to do with market expectations-of the event not the rate per se
With the UK (BOE)- 3 out of 8 members voted for a hike.
This was a big shift from the previous meeting where only 1 voted to hike.
The market had not expected this - as recent data wage inflation, economic growth had been poor
Bloombergs, Reuters, Forexlive, efxnews.com, will all provide commentary before an event on what is expected
So if there is a large move away from what is expected - that is where you get the move.

It's broad statement" not within next 24 hours but drop it will" . Same as I can say " This year we will see EUR Usd price near 2 years high" Means 0. Everything Drops and Goes up at some point here. WELCOME TO FOREX.
