that was an obvious consolidation pattern. but what eventually pushed it...........no idea. higher gold maybe? or a short squeeze prior to aussie employment data in a few hours' time. stops tripped as well. next target = 7729, if we do get to there. but i suspect the market has had enough for today. the employment data tomorrow will decide for us.

AU tends to correlate strongly with CAD.

Initial CAD explosion after the rate announcement likely got the ball rolling for the Aussie.

Cad follows oil, although that correlation has broken down a little bit recently. US inventory massive 7 million barrel miss to the downside gave oil a major price pop which likely added more fuel to the Aussie fire (with the expectation that CAD might lead the parade).

However, before CAD could potentially follow oil price pop, Mr. Poloz's gum flapping comment about the possibility of more CAD stimulus was announced which quickly destroyed big CAD initial price pop. Too late Aussie made its move. CAD subsequently crashes back to earth. Aussie dumps its correlation with CAD and remains firm at new levels.

Thinking you're right cuz I'd be surprised A/U goes much higher from here, especially with E/A at 1.42 and A/C over 1.01. I know news is coming up but maybe today's NY move up was a pump up. Maybe the print wI'll be good or in range but the rate goes up.

RBA Governor stated that if Unemployment deteriorates he will decrease interest rates.

Lets see if he keeps his promise.

My TA says: Yesterday was a break of a year long falling TL (start daily 14/5/2015). It may workout to be a FO but imo the line has been challenged too many times previously. A pullback to the 0.766 region is likely, potentially tails exceeding this level. A break below would open the path for LL's. If the bulls stay on board however, it may create LT momentum. Currently watching for bounce @0.768 for strengths and weaknesses.

Also using the correlated EA 30m 200MA falling TL to establish direction. A break below the rising 200MA on the 15m AU (currently at 0.7686) may also create a significant ST pullback.

On your chart E/A shows active double bottom, looks like price could head back up to previous daily support at 1.44500

Possibly but I'm not a huge fan of double tops/bottoms unless exact drawn like a pair of boobs. I will wait for euro session to begin before making any choices today.

That said, yes all counties experience slowdown, so what's up with all Aussie up move? Is it purely technical?? Is it carry trade?? Who knows....

Its probably an easy currency to move around. a trade of 200 million and have a major effect on the aussie.
