Looks increasing likely that AU is going to peak out around 7850 - 8000.
Think the big bears will be very happy to see the pair hit that region.

I think there is a target locked in around 7250......... let's see if we get there after topping out after 7850.

Let's make sure it gets there first. Right now it's still struggling to reach 7650. No news, no numbers today so everybody is just playing. It's only 10+ am and there is almost no PA.

The numbers aren't intraday targets. My system isn't heavily backtested, so the numbers may not be accurate.

I'm prepared for the pair to do a 78xx or even a 79xx print which may be what the bears need to drive it down.

I think the bears who shorted GU support at around 1.41 are going to get the same treatment....... took a quick glance and it looks like the 1.455 target is still intact.

took a short from 7657 a few hours ago targeting a scalp of 15-20pips to the lower trend line at least. Although it has risen +27pips against me now not gonna close out yet. A few possible negative scenarios for the aud today with Aussie consumer confidence and China numbers at 0200gmt. Will close out only if these numbers push aud higher. Overall looking for a retrace towards lower 76xx levels before deciding which direction. 7850 looks possible but not definite. Aud always seems more ready to fall...despite the recent gains the Bears still seem to lurk everywhere when you least expect it

Where did you get a time for China news from? FF calendar just has 'tentative'

And budget to be released soon, not sure of date. The incumbent government has come up with one unpopular idea after another, and has tested them with "leaks", then discarded for another ill considered whim. Now they have left the population awaiting the final version in "the budget". I have absolutely No faith that they will come out with a balanced well formulated strategy. It's hard to imagine a consumer who would.

On a side note .. apparently our new non mining services are Tourism and Education to take up the resources sector slack.

So nothing has changed then.

Australia is expensive compared to other tourist destinations and with a rising currency other countries will be more appealing .

cny data already announced on bloomberg trade balance slightly worse imports lower. This is what caused move on aud.

Exports up. Means more manufacturing. Means more raw material. Aus has lots of that.Data is skewed an could be seen as a recover from preious qte when manufacturing in China was stopped for Chinese new year.

If you read the last rba statement they noted they are aware that the recent commodity up swing is only temporary.

Let's just wait for 7850.....if it gets there then i will be selling too. May take some time for this to grind up and after which the USD bulls will be back.

8050 a better level to short imo. 7050 only about 170 pips away from where we are and currently to in consolidation, the size of the consolidation easily could push pass that. 8050 about 370 away also monthly down trend line around that area, the purple line.

I think the actual support is around 7550 -7580, it just happen to swing around that level on the previous dip. Can't say for sure if it will retest that level again, but i believe the support will hold before getting 78xx.
