Hi,

I took one trade today and it made it to the 1:1 target; unfortunately I had chosen a 2:1 target. When price reached 1:1 I moved my stoploss to BE and price retraced to take me out 1 pip in profit.

So all in all a very good day for 2 reasons: first, I now have further evidence that the system works quite well; and second, I've decided to place all my targets at 1:1 until I come across a good reason to change that.

Cheers,
pipShine

Hi,

The GbpUsd has been active even after the close of the London session so I decided to re-enter. I saw a reasonable set-up so I took it. And I set my target to 1:1. And I hit my target.

I like this system!

Cheers,

hi
i noticed that you have come to realise that the moving averages more or less telling the same story as cci, just a different visual.
personally i find that sma is more reflective of cci. if price moves down sma14, cci 14 moves down the zero line.
likewise with sma100/cci100. cci has a further advantage of showing divergence.
starting off with rr 1:1 is good. if you want to explore further 1:1.5 or 1:2 when you are more conversant, you can test taking partial profit at 1:1 and then sl at be and let the rest run. or even trail sl above sma14.
just a suggestion.

Hi Inthebox,

Actually, no, I hadn't seen the relationship - thanks for pointing it out. Especially about the 14SMA and the 100SMA - and about trailing a stop along the 14SMA.

And, yeah, I'm definitely going to stick with 1:1 targets until I get some consistency...

Cheers,
pipShine

Hi guys,
I am new here, first of all, thank you whatever and other members for this thread. I took the trade today following the guidelines, unfortunately, i hit the stop loss (loss happens). Here is what i did, 1. cci crosses 100 2. BO resistance 3. Double top 4. checked divergence, one more thing i didn't wait for BO box maybe that's why it went wrong? i am not sure. I just want to make sure that i properly understand the strategy or not and if anyone shows me some light, i would really appreciate it. Thank you

your situation was the same as someone i responded earlier. always look left for support and resistance zone.
explanation by hindsight.
1. higher time frame h1 was in a downtrend. the area where you took a buy was heading for a resistance zone.
2. m5 earlier showed a good buy.

my following observations may or may not help.
cci is a momentum indicator, use it as such, as in this thread. some use it as overbought/oversold indicator.
i am explaining the first situation as per numbering in the pictures.

1. when cci crosses the 100/-100 line, it shows momentum.
after quite a while cci came down to -100 -> so i am looking for a sell.
2. cci 14 crosses back up -100 but not +100 -> tells me that there is more momentum on the down side.
3. down trend fades out when when cci 14 crosses up +100. cci 100 crosses back up -100.

if one does not know how to read candlestick price action which will give the best entry, the next best thing is learn to know the characteristics of an indicator as much as possible like the back of your hand.

coming this far, i have already "tell it all". so apply diligently yourself.

cheers

Thank you inthebox, it makes sense now.I am just looking old charts with CCI 100/14 to understand this setup. About price action, digging some price action threads here. But honestly this is best strategy with ondicatoi I came across so far. I am going to practice this strategy in demo account before moving back to live. Thanks again happy trading
