Hello FF Community

So, lately I have been studying Bill Williams chaos trading and spent a lot of time watching youtube videos about it.
But seeing all these indicators on one chart is difficult to read and I prefer my chart to be simple and easy to read.
Then I thought about modifying that into a more simplified trading method where anyone can spot a trade with no effort.


On the chart apply the following:
1) Laguerre Filter - with period 0.4
2) Fractal - 2 bars before and 2 bars after.

Hi. The way I see it used here, Laguerre will always be behind the price at the moment that fractals are broken, so not much of a filter then. I'm not sure I understand your point...

Laguerre is used for confirmation only.
When it is above the candles, we only look for Down fractal breakout and vice versa.
The more fractal breakout is close to Laguerre, the more accurate the trade was.

We can use Smooth moving average instead of the following settings:
Period 5 | Shift 3 | Applied to Median HL/2

But during London & New York opening, I switch to 5M or 15M to catch a trade as early as possible
The point of the alligator indicator is to act as a filter when not trade, provide an exit area, and also a breakout as well as w/r line. New Trading Dimensions goes over it a lot better than the Trading Chaos book, imho.

If you want a cleaner chart and don't want the alligator lines, you could color code the bars to express the relationship of price to the alligator. the attached screenshot shows the alligator on the right and what I call alligator bars on the left. I also converted the fractal lines to straight lines.

I don't hand out my work, but someone in the Platforms forum could easily code these up for you.

so when you edit the fractals in mt4, do i change the fractal lookback to 1 or 2? and do i change the offset or leave at 10?

Hi,

How do you get those dotted lines on fractals as opposed to arrows? I have tried to look for settings in the indicator that would reveal to me different appearances for the fractals, but couldn't find any. I only have arrows popping on the chart, instead.

Change it to 2 and leave the offset at 10

Do you look at a higher TF for confirmation?

Most of the time I trade on 1H and I don't look at higher time frames for confirmations.
Please take into consideration that most of the important fractal breakout happens either before London or New York opening.
