Hi

Have just started using VT trader and have a couple of questions about it's workings.

1. I have got a flashing red dollar sign over the system tray icon, what does this mean?

2. Last night I got a box appear saying "Intrests are updated", what was that all about?

Sorry if the solution to these problems are really simple. Did check the help files but could find nothing.

Flashing red $ sign. Never saw that before! Are you using the demo?

Interests are updated occurs around the NY close time. It is a general announcement.

However, If you have an open position, depending upon interest rates price for the pair and whether you are buying or selling (look in the dealing window it is way to the right) interest will be added to or subtracted from your account. This is because you have to pay for the money you have 'borrowed' and are still using because your position is open.

If you do not have an open position nothing happens to your account.

Hopefully you are talking about a DEMO Account.

1) The Flashing Red $ sign indicates that you have a Trading Strategy attached to at least One of your Charts AND that it is in RUN Mode.

2) Interest Rates are Updated ~ 5:00 PM EST on a daily basis.
If you have any open positions at that time, Your account will be Credited/Debited the difference between the Interest Rates of the currency Pair/s you have Open. This will be affected depending on whether you are Long or Short. These Rates are Displayed on the Dealing Rates Page within VT Trader. [Int Buy | Int Sell] columns.

Sorry, this is the second time today I have posted, i'm new to VT Trader and having a few teething problems. Have attached two pictures so that you can see what I am talking about. I'm trading with a new demo account using the standard moving average cross system supplied with VT Trader. However, the first problem is that it does not appear to be placing any trades even though there are signals in the activity log. I'm sure I have got it set up right and I have a red dollar sign flashing on the system tray icon (you can see this in the attached picture). The second problem is, and this may not actually be a problem. But i seem to be reciving many trade signals, at least 1 a minute! I suspect this is due to the activity on the chart shown in my other attached picture, but should it really signal that much?

No Problem. We all Started at some point in time.

I suggest that to improve your understanding of VT Trader, you try to familiarize yourself with it as you will probably find your answer faster than waiting for a reply.

First Problem.
The Signals in the Activity Log are telling you that Your Conditions are Currently True. They will continue to do this for every Price Movement that they Remain True Until the Current Bar Closes.
However, VT Trader will only Place an Order IF the Conditions Remain True at the Close of The Bar.

Second Problem.
If you look at your chart, I think you will see a common problem with using a basic MA Cross system. When the MA's are braiding themselves into a rope, you will get numerous signals [probably more than you want]. It is for this reason that most traders who use systems similar to this will ADD some sort of filter.

MA Cross AND RSI at certain level.
If you read some of the discussions on FF you will find plenty of ideas for Filters.

You may want to check out Diallist's "Beginner Forum". Tonnes o' info there.

BUT. Please feel free to ask if you have any further questions or problems.

Unfortunately, I cannot found a way to show the current price or level when I put an indicator on a chart. Example. I put RSI 14, MACD and Stochastic 533 but I canot see their actual value on the chart. Is there a way to make them appear.

You cannot get the values to show on the chart.
BUT
You Can see them in the "Inspect Window"

Below the Chart there are icons.
Find the one that has a Small Red Arrow pointing at a blue line which represents a price chart.

Click on it to Open the Inspect window.

experiment with that to see if it helps.
Allo Bemac, thank you very much for your reply. It was very fast. I have seen that the inpect box can effectively solve the problem. Thank you very much again.

I really love these charts, they are very easily changeable.

If I can ask,

- do you know if I can find an indicator for putting automatically the fibonacci numbers for the most recent trend in any given chart?
-Is there also a way to be able to plot the new pivots numbers (for me, based on Peter Bain site) in an indicator so that I can usually plot them and finally
- is there a way in VT to get the Fibonacci expansion levels?

First let me apologize for not responding to this sooner. I don't know how I missed it.

Not Automatically but there are a few Fibonacci Drawing Tools which should show as Icons down the right hand side of VT Navigator.
{you may have to Right Click on the Toolbar to Customize to see all you want.}

There are numerous Pivot Point Indicators available at the Official VT Trader Support Forum. http://forum.vtsystems.com/index.php?act=idx
As I understand it, Mr Bain believes that there should be NO GAPS between the Close of one Bar and the Open of the Next.
VT Trader does not adjust values. If it Trades There, it will be Recorded there, Gaps and all. Personally I feel this is the correct method.

anyways how hard is it to get your money back from these guys if you close acct. or transfer to another co./
