I used SnagIt to paint that nice lines , I suggest everyone to use it
I am giving, what seems to be, a very simple strategy a try. If I understand correctly, the "signal" is when the value of the next bar on OsMA is up or down from the previous one. At 11:00 am today, the next bar was "up" thus producing a "Buy" signal. I went long. A few, very short minutes later, my trade (GBP/JPY - 1 hr. chart) went south for a full 50 pip loss (50 pip stop per system). Did I miss something? When do you enter trades is you are trading 1 hr chart? At the beginning of each hour? If you get stopped out, do you have to wait and see what happens at the start of next hour? Please clarify. Thanks!

Yes. It seems to be correct. I likewise loss 50 PIPs on the same trade but am now long on the subsequent trade and up 60 PIPS...

Are you using MT4 to make these great looking charts???

I think you are comparing the value of the MACD Histo Bars. I think the system calls for you to compare the "signal" to the previous "value"....at least that is how I am reading it.

This is correct. Simply compare previous OsMA price bar value to current OsMA price bar value.

I lost also next trade since I entered long two candles late and I suffer another 50 pips loss
Yes I'm using metatrader platform but those lines and text was done using SnagIt (you can try demo version here http://www.download.com/3000-2192_4-10717260.html)

The beauty of this system is that it is adaptable to any pair for any timeframe. Really depends on your trading style (fast, slow, watch market all day, not watch market all day, etc.)

I notice you prefer to use the OSMA rather than MACD for entries.

Can I just ask what does the signal setting on the OSMA indicator do? I know on MACD it gives the 100 average of the histogram bars and plots that on the same graph? On the OSMA indicator I don't see this however?

Also whilst we are on the 100 Signal SMA how do you use it on the MACD? Do you use it as an additional filter or not at all?

I am assuming SL is variable with whatever time frame you are using (or ideally with your account size vis a vis potential draw down for this system)?

MACD = Fast MA - Slow MA
In this case it is 40MA - 50MA.

The signal line is a MA of the MACD.

In this case it is a 100MA of the MACD.

The standard MT4 MACD is an oddball. It plots the MACD as a histogram. In every other application I have seen, it is plotted as a line.
In MT4 the MACD is a histogram and the signal line is shown as a thin line threading through it.

Usually both the MACD and the signal line are shown as lines. They look like a couple of MAs moving together.

The histogram, in most applications, is the difference between the MACD and the signal line.

This histogram is what we are using here. This is what the OSMA is.

Don't use the MT4 MACD. It is totally different than what you want for this system.

Use the OSMA.

This method also looks simple and easy to understand. I'm guessing that you probably already have been playing with settings for the smaller timeframes!? There is really no use in doing a job if it has already been done, so my question will be if the settings used by you in 1H works best in the smaller timeframes also? After a fast overlook I noticed that 5M is way to choppy for this, but from 15M and up it would/could work also.

Another observation was that by using BOTH OsMA and MACD as triggers, meaning that they both have to show the same signal, you could wash out a few of the bad trades. But I have to say that I have not done any extensive testing on this.
When do you exit a trade in this system? When the next bar is down? Do you set targets? Thanks.

Being only inthe forex arena for several months, when someone that has the respect and admiration of others (tkimble) that have been in forex far longer than I, I would be a fool not to pay attention. I think it was J.Paul Getty that once said he got rich by hiring guys that were much smarter than he was. So, I'm applying that philosophy to forex. I plan on getting rich by paying attention to to people that are much smarter than I. When tkimble says this is his best system ever, I have to believe that it probably is. When I see the accolades of others that have followed him in the past, I know he knows what he's talking about. Further, when I see that he's not interested in writing a book and making money off that book, which he most assuredly could, I poersonally have admiration already for the guy. So, being not quite a newbie, which is probably good, because I know I don't know much, I have read this thread twice already. Good thing it's not 1000 pages (yet), but I'm sure it will be in short order. I'm new here. Have traded forex for about a year. Much better and safer than the stock market, and I love it. Look forward to being here a long time. By the way, I have already paid my dues in the stock market, and have not been, and will not be, one of the 95% people who lose in forex. Only exit when you are stopped out. Otherwise it is a Stop and Reverse (SAR) which is my preference for trading. I love the action.

If I am right you can only Enter the new direction after the first change in direction of the OSMA has been confirmed? So that would be the open of the second bar after the peak or trough?
