Usd/Jpy ain't looking too spiffy, heading towards lowest all time close !

Btw, where's Alorante, would like if some of his indicators still indicate a move up. ?

I´m here !! Nice to know you missed me a bit. I´ve been busy with a work project. Here is the current chart. The RSI trendline is still holding nicely. and the Trix has flashed another divergence green arrow which added to the clear divergence on the RSI (Divergence, for those that may not know, is when price makes a low but the indicator does not) I would have to say I still feel bullish. I´m still holding but that could change if my indicators decide to break down.

Hello fellow traders,

Not sure if I have posted in here before.....but wanted to share my thoughts. Been trading and follow yen for a while now. I caught that intervention move on Aug 4th, not without taking quite a few stop losses in the process, but the gains far out weighed the drawn downs. I only trade futures so my numbers are different then those who trade the actual currency price.......but if I invert my prices I am long at 76.40 as that was the historical price that initiated the August 4th price movement. I just entered this position with 2 contracts and will hold this through the roll and into the Asian session. I see some nice rejection candle sticks on the 5, 15, 30 and now 60 min charts. So when you have all of those time frames lining up it would appear to be a trade that would not involve a lot of risk. I have noticed the USDX climbing and not having any affect on the yen.....sometimes the yen is delayed in responding to these moves so for that reason I am looking for a big move tonight in the yen. The markets have sold off nicely today (took a short on the Nasdaq at 2320) but jumped out too soon with some profit but that was the perfect place to short at 2:30PM today.

So in a nut shell.....short on the yen futures.....which actually means I am long on the currency price at 76.40......looking for a major move.

So are you positioned short now? That could be a nice 600 pip move....

At these levels we still need a tight stop loss because if it starts to run it will run big time because where is the support? Other then intervention.......Look at swissy when it was at all time lows of 81......it dropped to 70 before things turned around......so be careful......I know I am.....this is not a fools game. Keep it tight.

More food for thought......the yen is weighted at 13.60% against the USD. During his consolidation period from August 10, 2011 till today the yen has moved in a tight range of 100 pips ish........while the USDX (dollar index) has moved from its lows of 73.91 all the way up to 78.30. So you do the math....if the yen is weighted 13.60% against the moves of the US dollar and the yen has not moved at all during this very big move up on the US dollar......you have to ask yourself........is the spring just coiling tighter and tighter......why has the yen not moved up....unless my math is wrong....then yen should be trading around the 80.50 level based on the dollar move......hmmmmmm please correct me if I am wrong.

I think you are right on. As a matter of fact, 4 days ago I posted here something along those lines:

"For the past 6 weeks USD/JPY has been locked in a highly unusual tight range of 1 Yen from top to bottom. Looking back to the past I found a few ranges that oscillate between 1.7 to 3.5 Yen top to bottom. This one is out of the ordinary. A tight range like this acts like a coil. When it breaks it should be pretty violent. The longer the PA stays within the range. The tighter the coil gets."
