Hi, I am new to this forum.

I am 33, I have a stupid job, I wanna quit, I've always dreamt the same as most of you. You know almost the cliche story.

So I don't live in the states, my wedge is low compared to 1st world countries, and I'm saving to start with 300 approximately.

I'm already training with a demo account, and I've made $20, so it's a good start (I guess), I'll train for the next three or four months, and then I'll give it a try.

But originally I wanted to know, what's the best layout for you on the background (MT4).

I started with a light (white) background, now I'm using a black background; I really liked the white one; but everytime I come to ForexFactory I see when professional traders upload their pictures, they're 99% black background.

Why is it better? There's got to be a reason I don't know yet, I would like to know it.

The only thing I don't like about black background, is when I add some horizontal or any other kind of lines, they overlap some of the candlles in the graphic, I can't set them too thin because I just don't feel comfortable whatching them.

I know you will tell me, that the best layout is the one that I like the most (or feel more comfortable), but I wanted to know your opinions, specially the one of those people who use black background.

Final word: Sorry for my english, I'm not native.
All your opinions will be highly appreciated, I've learn a lot here, I like this community.

Most traders don't think too much about this ... They simply use the MT4 default ... which is black! That's why most posted charts here are black.

The deal isn't to make the layout beautiful but to make it less stressfull for your eyes.

I personnally use a dark gray background.

Wish you all the best in your learning process/progress!

Exactly! If you don't have any problems use whatever you prefer. I have fast tiring eyes so I use a black background with lowered monitor brightness.

black is only easier on the eyes...
Other than that....

Think seriously --> Do you prefer using your freetime Learning Forex with a small account of 300USD ? You will certainly not go very far, and few people will want to lend you money as trading with a small account does not provide much confidence for investors

--> You might use this time to work extra hours, get a promotion
--> You might use this time to create a small business that is easier
--> You might use this time to find a job
--> You might use this time to get back to study

I am using a white background during the day and for actual trading and late nights I use a black chart with green and red colors.

While I don't want to discourage you from going live but if you really can't afford that much money be aware and you might want to consider to demo trade a bit longer. it took me 4 years to go from demo to live. Yes this may be long for many people but I have never busted an account.

Well, I really like white background better, I didn't want it to be beautiful, I just wanted to know if there's some advantage or something I didn't know.

Thanks for your wishes =) wish the best for you too.

Hi,

I'm also creating a "small business" but it will take some time.

But I love numbers, I love statics, and of course I love money; I just didn't know this world was reachable for me (even with a small account).

I've started with this demo account four days ago with 400, today I have 419; that's like 4% return, so I think it could work and that's why I'm training.

I have a University degree and almost two postgraduate, but in my country there are not enough opportunities.

But if there were, anyway I would try into this world.

Thanks for your opinion =)

I can "save" money for this, and I really want to do it, I'm just falling in love to this world.

Anywa if I do 4% a month, I just keep saving money, learning, trading better, and my balance will keep growing, later, this 4% will be higher, that's the idea, isn't it?

Thanks for your opinion =)

Just look at this, this is great for me, with more training I just will increase my return% or my balance, I think this is great!

I have a strategy, I'm consevative (I learnt the hard way), and I love this world: numbers, statics and money.

I'd say it depends on the trading style. If ones system involves more mental stress (typical for very short term, in and out multiple times a day and very fast sometimes) it is useful to start early with little cash and try to learn from your reactions. If you blow up couple hundred bucks, well so be it. Education has a price tag, too.
Mechanical trading maybe is a different thing though.

In my case I prefer a black background as it causes less eye strain..... I understand wanting to trade and not having the capital to get started and don't want to discourage you from following this path.... in my case it took 8 years before I was able to go on a course and fund an account..... If you can't afford education it will be tough to get started but a lot of brokers have free education I would advise you attend as many of those as you can maybe from a few different brokers..... when you go live you will be offered "premium/advanced" education by your broker as well which should add to your knowledge...... I didn't demo trade I went live immediately but it has taken 9 months to become profitable. Be aware that when you go live you will react to your trades differently as emotion then comes into play..... Good Luck learn as much as you can and when you open a live account maybe go for a micro cfd ( I think it is ) so that you can trade 10c per pip that way you can trade size in such a way that you are risking as little of your account % wise as possible..... One of my rules has been only risking 1 % per trade and in the beginning I actually often only did .5 %
Take care of yourself
Tess

I appreciate your opinion, let me explain this; my capital is small cause in my country wages is low, in my country, 200 dollars a month is an enormous wage, if I start with 300$ and make 4% profit a month, it is great (in my country).

Anyway that's not my target, my target is to keep capitalizing, 4% a month and keep saving and depositing, could make profit bigger.

And that's the idea, making the account bigger and bigger every day, even with small steps, but steps forward =)

Greeting.

Wow! that's like a tunning car, I liked the second one, but I'd use the first one because it has grids on the background, and grids make me feel better about what's happening, here is my ugly layout =/

I really liked your tunning chart.

I don't know why it is shown with that wide.

Hallo, Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch, aber ich kenne nicht alle worte. Warten Sie mir sechs mehr Monaten, Ich werde Deutsch (besser) sprechen.

I want something like your layout, it definetely won't tire my eyes (I think).

I wanna trade daily, but at this moment I keep checking the charts every half second (you know, beginner's love).

I will definitely use yours and Tsar's example.

Danke schon!

Edit: Here's my other ugly layout (when compared to the more professional layouts like yours).

Black might be easier on eyes. There is less of light intensity right into them. It has nothing to do with trading, but intensity of light over time, especially in darker rooms.
