After attempting the rags to riches method I came to the conclusion that I was better suited to a more patient route to building my account with a small initial balance. I call it the Slow Double Method.

So here is what I am up to right now. After several attempts I have fallen short of the goal but made money with the rags to riches approach. Due to how I have seen my progress I have revamped what for me is a more realistic and plausible approach. There are those who can do it but as for me I believe 4 trades is the best target. let me explain my new approach based on the success rate of my trades for the experiment:

You will of course need your own system to trade with.

I can easily get to the 4th level most times so with this in mind I will apporach my goal in increments of 4 stages and then start over as such:

I will start with $50 and double 4 times:

Initial 50
100
200
400
End 800

If successful I start the process all over again but this time with $100

Initial 100
200
400
800
End 1600
New balance after 2 rounds 2300

I will keep going in increments of 100 if the round fails I start over from the previous round. Below is how it should look. As it is, I started this week with $50 again and current balance is $390. Keep in mind I also do this with binary options and not spot though it may be possible to do this with spot.

This approach keeps you in the game longer. It also builds positive expectance and helps you bank funds when you get to an amount that suits you. Also, as you can see, the intitial risk gets smaller and smaller in proportion to the endin balance as the rounds move forward. You soon get to a point where its a no brainer to do it this way if you have a good system.

Hi,,Good sound idea and I have done that in the past but compounding 3 times.
If you can have 4 wins then do it again you can also compound 8 times.
Just keep your head and practise what you preach and you will make big money, Trade well, be good.

Sounds like something good to try.

But it can take ages if you aim at 200/300 pips moves.

By the way, what do you trade? Fx ? Metals? something else?

No I dont take the balance out. I keep the balance but next trade I only risk the prescribed initial balance for the round.

No way would I ever aim for 300 pip moves. With binary it is very easy to double an account with the right strike. BUT it is doubly easy to lose it LOL! All the same with a sound straetgy it is possible. So for me I could simply pick a strike in the money and if I just get the direction right its a good trade. Not as easy as it sounds but over time I have gotten good at it.

I generally like to trade usdjp because I have become accustomed to when it will move. Also eurusd. i seem to identify big moves on eurusd easier.

I need to look into gold more. I think it may be a good one to look at for this project.

Right now I use market profile along with vwap, cci and BB bands. I have retooled steadily what I have done in the past. Mostly my method is price action. I use the indicators as confirming and giving me information. With binaries it is key to know where momentum is or is not.
This is a good idea.

Personally im using something like these for accounts between $500 to $2000. Whenever I successfully compond, I keep drawing out the capital+profit. And amazingly, some time these high risk account made a better net annual profit than my conservative trading account.
The only winner is the one who survive the longest...

I havnt done it with this method.

What I have done is turn $100 into 4k before and on other occasions turned 100 into 2k+. I was consistantly getting to at least the 4th level on rags to riches. it dawned on me that I would not get the required amount of trades in a row without blowing the account.

This way when I blow a round I just start back from scratch with many many more times to move to the next level. I am already almost down with the 1st round. The key is just waiting for the right trades.

I presume you're a 1 min junkie with such high risk/reward?
Think I'll give this a go on the dragon, I like the way the M15 moves and can hopefully fine tune entry on M1

Actually I trade off a daily mindset using hourly timeframe. Sometimes if the market is right I will trade the 5 minute. Im not a sit in front of the laptop trader. Im mostly set and forget and check on it every so often.

I see you're in the US, I think this could be interesting on the Dow or the S&P using a BTFD strategy

I have thought about the dow. in fact the dow could indeed make me a rich man. However, I just done seem to be able to get its movements right. I have never made real $ with the dow. but yes, this one of all would be the best for what I do. I am studying its movements and maybe in another year or so i will put $ into it. Its less crazy than forex.

I do have it in mind though.

Dow just went on a 100 pip run then WOOSH dropped 80 in less than 5 mins
Edit ECB at work, Greece is even more fubared.....

Nice thread Trendzole. I have been following the rags to riches thread and actually gave it a go. Twice I got to level 5 but blew up. The main mistake was focusing on completing the task quickly and not being patient enough. I have also come to the conclusion that it would be difficult for me to achieve it the way it is spelled out in R2R thread.

Your approach is beautiful. I ponder over it and if need be, adjust a bit. Another important factor to the success of the strategy for me is short stops. I seem to fair better when I take short stops.

We will be following and sharing as we go along.

Not a good couple of days. took some losses. Down to $66.

Just put on a decent trade in eurusd. Risking $41 if it is lower than 1.1297 by 11am eastern then I will get $80 to bring me back to $115. not quite one for one but close enough.

Current balance now $36
