Back to looking at new houses. I notice that developers are now beginning to offer more incentives to buy their new properties. Probably because the housing market is slowing gown or end of year tax looms large on their balance sheets?

And looking at the sp500 - my afternoon tipple, I often see action at 1:30pm UK time albeit I trade from 2:30pm UK time. Any reason for the sp500 springing into life at 1:30pm UK time ?

It’s not a sector I’m familiar with tbh but I would imagine the interest burning away on vacant properties is pretty scary and not factored into the equation 3 or 4 years ago when they started building these big developments. Kinda funny because we’ve been here before and not too long ago…

I read somewhere China has a massive bubble in housing/construction ripening to pop.

apparently she uses all her profit from Dax and bets it all on 3 legged horses. She spends most evenings in a gambling anonymous meetings

Hi Claudia - thanks for the GER40 breakout idea. (Breakouts are my favourite way of trading and I used to follow Billy's ideas a number of years back). I wonder if you could elaborate a little more on your strategy, as you say you've had 8 trades and 8 wins this week. I have traded the 8am (4 hr breakout) every day this week, and only had 2 winners, with 3 losses...I am using the same criteria as you (in fact my stop is a little more conservative at 25). I have IG index too, though am trading it on IC markets (Ctrader) due to much greater leverage. I can't see any discernible differences in their charts, so am wondering how you have managed to achieve completely different results to me? Looking forward to your response, as I'm sure there must be something I'm missing...

Hi - difficult post to answer as we are all different. What I would say is this is working fine for both Mr T and myself.

There's potentially 20 trades a week. I'm selective and take less than 50% of those normally, as last week. Trying to keep this as simple as possible, and get it automated very soon as previously mentioned.

I'll post some live trades next week and see if that answers your questions.

With 2 wins and 3 losses and the right risk/reward you are still ahead.

Thanks for coming back to me. You've solved the mystery - you're being 'selective'! I'm going to go back and analyse last weeks trades to see if I can improve my win percentage and in the meantime look forward to seeing your live trade posts and learning what criteria you use. Still ahead as you say by using the right risk/reward so all good on my end - thank you!

Hi Claudia - It would seem that there's a lot more to your trades and selection than a simple breakout. On looking at last weeks trades, there were 2 trades on the 8am break that hit +50, the break above on the 8th March and the break below on the 10th, both of which you took (and fortunately so did I!). The only other trade that hit +50 from the 8am break was a break below on the 9th but it would have been stopped out before hitting target.

Similarly, looking out a 12pm breakout (which I haven't been trading), there was only one winner, that being a break to the downside on the 7th March (and, given that the bar closed very close to its low, I'm assuming there's a likelihood that you wouldn't have taken it anyway?). The 10th Mar long trade which is the only other one to reach +50 would have been stopped out beforehand.

So having looked closer, I'm now more confused than I was before, especially given that on the 9th Mar you said you'd already had 7 winning trades!

I'm not having a dig or trying to be clever, just trying to understand your methodology a little better and appreciate that you're trying to help people and share your ideas. Looking forward to learning more...
