Does anyone know how to program an Expert Advisor with Interbank FX, I need a Moving Average Indicator that will fire off trades using a 2 Day/ 5 Day Moving Average on a 4-Hour bar chart for the EUR/USD. So whenever the two cross each other I am in a trade say for 3 LOTS, once they cross it will automatically sell the 3 and sell short another 3 and so on....

any help much appreciated!!!

Any other details? Any stop loss or just trade int signals? Should take about 30 minutes to modify an expert I have to do this including the time to post.

I live in La Verne which is East LA County so about 1 hr from you if you are still in Dana Point. I use to bicycle from Brea Newport Beach to Laguna Beach along PCH and back through the hills every weekend for my workout when I raced 25 mile time trials.

Try this one:

It's a basic tutorial to coding with MT4 if ever you want to do it yourself.

Hope this helps,

Bigballer, This is kind of off topic, but I would highly recommend you keep stop loss and profit taking exits in mind. exits matter 3-4 times more than entry.

Hi all,

Mrpip, yes there is a Stop loss, and I was thinking also about Profit Taking entry for this strategy also. I would set Stop Loss say at 20 or 25 pips.

If you look at a 4 Hour bar chart and only layover the 2 Moving Average Crossovers with a 2 day and 5 day, you will be suprised at the results for entry and exit points granted the EUR/USD does not stay in a sideways market forever.......We would need to run a BACK test on this strategy also.

Eastmeals, I will try this website.

zalakinc, stop loss YES !!!!

Eric,

Here is the finished expert.

The daily MA Periods are multiplied by 6 for the 4 hour chart to show the same MA's. I think this is what you meant. Also this can be attached to the 1 hr, 30 min, 15 min, 5 min or 1 min and the proper multiply is still done for each chart. As you can see I like lots of options. This might give better timing for entry and exit.

The Modes have possible values of:

0 = SMA, 1 = EMA, 2 = SMMA, 3 = LWMA

Any combination of these can be used.

I set default StopLoss to 250 so you can just check the crosses for signals.

The rest should be obvious.

Hope this is what you wanted. If not get back to me.

Hi MrPip,

I tested the MA Strategy, and I was long with 3 LOTS, and last night the MA's crossed to go SHORT, but what the Expert Advisor did was buy 3 more LOTS, and then sell the 3 I originally had thus leaving me with 3 still long instead of selling the original 3 and selling SHORT due to the crossover go short.

See attachment of screen shots.

any thoughts as to correcting it?
thanks

Eric

Eric,
I think I misunderstood what you wanted. You said a 2 DAY and 5 DAY not the 2 period and 5 period, A big difference because the expert uses 12 period for the 2 DAY because there are 12 4 hour periods in 2 days and 30 period because ther are 30 4 hr periods in 5 days. I will fix this so that it uses 2 period and 5 period. Will post soon.

Hi MrPip,

Hmmm, I am sorry if we got our wires crossed. Man I really appreciate you helping me out on this.

Ok, just to reinterate for the strategy -

We will use a "2 Moving Average Crossover (SIMPLE)", the setting for the moving averages are = Slow period 2 day(BLUE line), and the Fast period 5 day(RED line). Used on a 4 Hour Bar chart.

Once the MA crosses over, in this case to signal a LONG position, it will BUY 3 Regular LOTS. Stop loss is 25 pips.

When the MA crosses again signally a short, then it will sell the 3 lots and imediately sell SHORT 3 more lots.

I hope this helps.

thank you

The fast is 2, the slow is 5.
And you are using the 2 period not the 2 day. You can also optimize these values for more profit by using the backtester with 0 for stop loss and take profit. Just trade the cross to determine maximum profit.

Here is the newest version. It should now be bug free. I ran a backtest from Jan 2 to Mar 14 on the 4 hr chart and found the following values to work best so far.

FastMAPeriod = 4
SlowMAPeriod = 5
