Visually backtest custom indicators?

Hey there,

I'm curious about a certain indicator, how often it repaints, how accurate it is and so on and would like to back test it in MT4 using the visual back test function. Unfortunately, am I'm sure you're all aware, the back test only tests EAs so far as I know.

Is there a way to visually back test a custom indicator? An EA that would paint an indicator of my choosing for me? Anything like that?

You can do exactly what you asked for in Strategy Tester; I do it all the time. Find an EA that doesn't open many trades and find a setting to prevent any from opening. The trading activity just gets in the way of trying to figure out the indicator. Start the EA running and then press the pause button (||). Add the indicator to the chart with the + icon in the normal manner.
