For anyone interested in further playing with this concept, I have added code to close out a position at a settable profit or loss.

As usual with my coding, no guarantees

Enjoy ...

Good evening Mr Macman and Mr Hopwood,

I have downloads of both of the your latest version of R&R on 2 separate demo accounts. One account is an existing demo and the other is a newly downloaded demo

In all instances, the demo accounts crash once I hit the button to allow live trading of the EA.

Would you know what causes this and what I can do to prevent this from happening again?

Look to hear from you

Sincerely

Nicastro

Yep. You have to:

  1. leave the platform running and use Windows Explorer or some-such to delete both the .mql4 and .ex4 files
  2. shut down the platform
  3. re-run the platform and you will see that the ea is no longer present
  4. shut down the platform again
  5. re-download the ea
  6. re-start the platform and re-load the ea onto all of your charts

Miss out any of the above steps or get them in the wrong order and you will have to start again.

Ally bug-laden program (MT4) with a bug-laden OS (Windows x) and you get total chaos from time to time.

Macman and Steve,

I played the EA overnight and I runned into DD. Please consider the pair's total upl before the ea will send another order. I observed that the EA is generating orders - buy, sell, buy in that order; sending sell orders even if the previous one is generating positive (winning) buy orders (in this case a buy order should have been created).

Thanks and God Bless,

Edd

Dear Mr Hopwood,

I have tried the above over the past week with varying degrees of success. After anything from 15 minutes to 2 hours, the platform stalls again.

I suspect that the Freeze Trading function is the villain of the piece as the platform seems to stall once Freeze Trading kicks in. As a test feature, could you, or anyone else, please upload a version of R&R which does not have the Freeze Trading features.

I have been thinking of ways to simplify the mechanics of the R&R EA and so free up some of your precious time selflessly dedicated to the forum. I see in the notes to the MPTM section that hedging is proving a bit problematical.

To circumvent this for the time being, could the EA be programmed to send a pending trade once a hedge trade is entered. The pending trade would be in the opposite direction to the hedge trade. User inputs for the pending trade would be: (1) trade size and (2) pips away from the Hedge trade

The original trade, the hedge trade and the pending trade would need to be managed as one unit to close at Cash Profit Break even pips.

Sincerely

Nicastro

ps I doth my cap to you in the sterling work produced for The Beast.

Just as a matter of record, R&R works perfectly for me both on demo and live on Alpari UK. When it freezes trading, you do of course have to remove the EA and when you have dealt with the situation, drag the EA onto the chart again.

How much extra work would you like me to put in on your behalf? Shall I redisign the entire robot to your specification? Learn C++ and produce a new platform specifically for you? Hold your hand whilst you sort out the basics of trading with an ea?

You have already annoyed me once tonight. Be quiet for a while or I will leave you with no other option other than to stay stum in all my threads permanently.

Guys,

Just for your info. Just as we suspected, brokers are engaging dirty tricks to separate traders from their money.

Crikey. I abandoned this one a loooonnnngggg time ago.

I do not have any spare demo capacity to speak of. I might start a quiet demo, stick the bot on a single chart and let it chug away to see what happens.

Cheers

I ran this for a while, but it all turned very bad and a number of demo accounts were blown before I abandoned the effort, but I ran it OOTB, perhaps if I would have increased the pips before hedge (OOTB =10, I think) it might have worked out a bit better?
