Really? Just do a quick test and compare let's say: NZD/USD The spread on Armada is often 300% higher than Lmax.

I probably shouldn't be posting this here, so apologies, but I just wanted to know if anyone here has experience with Exness ECN (not MM account).

I am looking to trade Eur-Jpy and they seem to have consistently better spreads than LMAX brokers...

Cheers,

Mark

I got this email from LMAX a couple of days ago about multicharts:
.....
and have signed up for a free trial with mc. First impressions are very good- it takes a bit of getting used to, but their chart trading is excellent, and a massive improvement from just using the web version. I tried mc out a year ago and there were a lot of teething problems with data spikes, so gave up on it, but this all seems to be resolved now, so I'd recommend it to anyone who can comfortably trade 250 round turn lmax lots a month to get the rebate. If you try it out, make sure to download the 8.5 beta version as this contains a lot of new stuff concerning LMAX, like the microlots.

Hello,
Thanks for information, seems interesting.

Somebody knows if they changed the point that was the problem for me :
the SL orders are only sitting in the Multicharts (and not on the LMAX server).

Nice day

On the email I posted it says "native entry stop orders", which means orders are held at LMAX so it does seem to have improved. But it's worth giving them a call just to check anyway

Sorry, but you're not reading my post carefully. I said they were different. which means not in present, but in the past. Except for major pairs like eurusd though, they are always the same.

Hi All,

1. I have posted here before re: broker choices, and good pretty good feedback (go LMAX via IB for small accounts.) Need update on www.armadamarkets.com, given its newness- is Armada an IB for LMAX, i.e. can you open an LMAX account with them (few $thousands)? Any other 'good' IB for LMAX? Looks like LMAX has tight spreads and not much spread widening/slippage with news trading?

2. Another question: Does anyone have experience with www.pipcloud.com ? They are a VPS (virtual private server) host for MT4, and are offering a $15/mo promo, with all OS support (Win, Mac, Linux/Android, iPhone.)

Cheers,
Athar.

Thanks, I omit that in your post.

But I am not sure they talk about StopLoss orders ( for me "native entry stop orders" are rather the Buy/Sell Stop entry orders, which are indeed held at LMAX servers).

Sure, the best way to know, is to call them, what I will certainly do.

Nice day everybody.

SL/TP do sit on their server, but MultiCharts has a habbit sometimes to keep orders client side. It could create OCO orders (not supported by LMAX)
On their web frontend or API you create them server-side.

Armada is not an IB, but they use lmax pricing. Meaning you would send the money to an Armada bank account. If Armada was an IB, you would send the money to a LMax bank account. IBs are not allowed to handle client money.

The cheapest lmax IB that i am aware of is FxMTF. Same commissions like Armada if you use the web-platform, but i think their MT4 commissions are a little higher than Armada's.

Personally i only consider UK based firms. I would say the risk of lmax defaulting is significantly less than Armada. And at least you get GBP 50K back in UK, in case of a bankruptcy. I dont see the point in forfeiting this additional layer of security, especially since fees are the same and i dont use MT4. In my opinion, if you deposit more than lunchmoney, security of funds and regulation should be top priority when choosing a broker.

I think each one need to do their research/experience on the various brokers connected to LMAX - or call the broker and get an idea of how they respond to questions regarding data feed, spreads etc. Having experience with LMAX data feed, I say there is little time to make a lot of "adjustments" on a 200ms roundtrip, I regard LMAX to be a true exchange, spreads are limited to the liquidity on LMAX similar to other exchanges. I have seen the spread frequently hits zero, and stay there for seconds, thus LMAX do not have a minimum spread ( except they do not provide negative spreads ) - you do not see zero spreads on an exchange such as Globex, even for sure orders are crossing due to different execution methods and network speed, and for sure there are moments where internal spreads are zero or even negative on any exchange - but apparently most exchanges have a minimum spread.

Secondly, the front end platform, it is difficult to tell what could be processing here, which depends on various issues, such as; if run on a server, the load on this server, how many others are running on same server, settings in the front end etc. I´m sure a phone call to the broker will clarify how the front end is setup and where.

I´m not working at LMAX, and not working at a broker using LMAX, but at a tech company soon to enter into retail with a range of products for automated trading, using LMAX. We have completely removed the entrance barrier to strategy development and automated trading - plus brought this into a further step not to be mentioned at this time, which will change all in terms of automated trading. No name mentioned, to let you know that such is available soon.

We are getting closer to a point, where the market behaviour changes faster than developers can develop new strategies using the traditional technologies - if not already reached.

The spread on lmax can be zero or negative because orders from liquidity providers/banks are not matched against each other. On globex this is not the case, so a zero spread immediately results in a trade, so there will always be a spread minimum of 1 tick.

BTW, if there are negative spreads on lmax, it will display a spread of zero, and the best bid/ask quote will display as the midpoint rounded to the nearest 1/10th pip.

auto_trader: can you tell a bit more about your software? Will it be conceptually different from other products like Ninja, Multicharts, Openquant and so on?
