hi chaps

So what is the latest with this system? How are we doing? Its been a while ( a few days) so thought i'd catch up. I'm slowely switching off TB once it closes positions as I dont want to hold positions into the festive period.

I guess Steve's newest TB is proving to be profitable (although drawdown might be high at times).

Steve, have you started coding the versions with RWB/TMA or whatever your newest idea was?

Like you I have not been following all the latest developments but I am still using the version dated 2/11 on demo. My demo has now been running for 26 days (I restarted the test) on only 5 pairs and it is up 8.27% net. Not bad at all. It did get dangerously high DD at one point but recovered. During this time I only intervened a few times so it was not 100% automatic but close.

It is pretty much default settings. £5K start balance, P & S allowed, 0.1 lot each. Max 5 trades.

AlanJ has spotted a great bloop that will stop TB closing Primary trades at the gold line. The fix for this is in post 1. Cheers, Alan.

Coders, find the line if (CloseTradeAtGold && OrderPrint() > 0) CloseAtGold(); and change OrderPrint() to OrderProfit() to save the faff of downloading.

Excellent growth. I am using conservative settings hence small growth.

Which version are you using and what settings? Is your MyFXBook.com report accessible?

Using the older version in which order reliable was added to steve's bot. 'theslightlymorereliablebeast' i think it is called

myfx is public, just click on the link.

Pretty sure I am all default settings, just started with .03 for primary, and .01 for secondary. Just recently in the last few days I have been increasing each pair to .04/.02 when the opportunity arose (no pending or open trades).

Thanks Taz,

Just wondering who modded TB with "more reliable" back end ?

Would they be able to do the same again for the current version as I believe this code base is quite firm.

Cheers,

getdown71

That would be Matt - mbkennel. LibOrderReliable is his library and is the lib he adds to use the features.

Actually TSMRB had some Less Reliable Bugs in it---not the execution library, but my changes inadvertently messed up the strategy.

I've been working on a new EA (The Beauty) which is currently undergoing testing which has some new analytic concepts. But it should be able to be tuned to go back to TB but using LibOrderReliable.

I was planning on letting it run for a week or two before posting. There is a v0.1 out, but I think it also had bugs.

Can't wait to try it out.

Take your time though. It must be great to release a bug-free version of something - I wouldn't know from experience.

TB's cleanup function is causing problems with deleting pending trades and causing me to miss a lot of profitable trades this morning, as well as filling up my history tab with deleted items and potentially pissing off my crim to the point where the account gets closed.

As an interim measure, I have removed the cleanup function - post 1 for anyone else being driven nuts by constant order closes (coders go to bool CleanUp() and add return(true); to the beginning of the function).

This is merely the prelude to a substantial update to TB's code. I have planned:

  1. making TB hold the 'pending' trades in memory rather than sending them to the platform, to hide our activities from the crims
  2. removing secondary and tertiary trades altogether
  3. adding the RWB filter so successfully used by Toothy and requested by others, as an optional filter. I suspect it will prove irrelevant given the stringent conditions applied to trading by TB; we shall see.
  4. adding a close-loosing-trades-after-x-hours filter. macman asked me for this a couple of weeks ago, so now seems a good time to add it.

Hi FOlks!

I have been running one of the Original Versions of The Beast. OOTB on 6 pairs and I havent touched it. Started this run on 11/12 and it is up 15% NICE! There have been some drawdowns but I just let everything go. BTW, I am in the US, therefore this is not using the hedging function.

I also have Another Experimental Beast running since 11/24 on an accoutn that does allow hedging. That started at $3K and is up 8% very nice also
