On Demo 2 Dont you mean 0.03 primary 0.01 secondary , or do you know of a new reverse strategy

will post weekly result this weekend.

however so far managed to get a 5000 dollar account up to 8300 dollars on all 28 pairs.

however the drawdown was huge.

at 1 point it had closed orders at 450 dollarsin profit. however at that point of time my drawdown was around 2100 dollars.

then at wednesday morning ( GMt +2) it had closed around 1600 profit and i had a drawdown of 1600. so basicly i was at breakeven for that time.

then the big uprising of the euro came and it closed a lot of trades in profit. was then 2700 dollars in profit and drawdown of 450 dollars.

then i checked this morning and now i am at 3300 dollars in profit with a drawdown at the moment of 750 dollars.

lotsizes i used is 0.3 for primary and 0.1 for secondary.

just a question i ask myself is. if the euro would not have risen so much suddenly wednesday, but would have declined in the same amount. would i then not suddenly be in a drawdown of -3000?

so that is something i am going check after market closes tommorow. check how much impact that euro news actually made.

also i am testing the beast Ea on renko on EURUSd chart. but cant say yet to much about ie yet. 2 trades closed in profit, 2 trades open that are in minus.
i am still thinking on how to test this best. since i have to deal with different bricksizes.

i think if we realy want to test the beast as good as possible on renko., we should setup a team. alone it is almost impossible to give a good view on how well the beast would do.

team setup should be people who test different curries. and bricksizes. and then check with each other what the best setups are.

just we need to do this organised. if all start doing this alone. we would run in circles. this is just my thought. if anybody else has better ideas i am all for it ofcourse.

I would be more than willing to help out with forward testing on renko bars, never used them before so would need to be walked through the set up first. Not much of a back tester i'm affraid!

Let me know if you want me to help and when you want to start.

Hi,
I'm happy to help with any forward testing of a Renko system. I'm sure I can squeeze another instance of MT4 onto the poor old VPS

alright guys,

lets start fresh after this weekend. so we all start the same.

my idea is this.

there are basicly 28 main pairs.

lets try to do each 4 pairs on renko.

just message in here which pairs you do.

then we need to check how each pair would do for these brick sizes

5
10
15
20

.

you can setup renko using the attached EA.

so how does it work?

copy renkolivechartEa into expert folder.

restart metatrader.

then chose a currency . for example EUrUSD

set EURUSD on 1 minute. this is important otherwise you get wrong data.

apply renkolivechart EA on chart.

now here you can chose bricksize. chose whatever bricksize you want.

after chose offline charts and you will see there has been a new chart generated called M2.

open it.

you will see that price has changed into bricks instead time.

all you have to do now is add the beast Ea on this chart and your ready to go.

1 more notice. make sure that you have downloaded all history for each currency. otherwise you might end up with a very short brickchart. which also would result in a no good testing for the beast EA. as it also requires history i assume.

if there are anymore questions, please let me know.

also sorry for my bad english. i am dutch and not a native english speaker. maybe somebody else can explain better how the renko charts work then me.

and i also always open for suggestions or better ideas. i am far from an expert but i do have a very open mind

RENKO Works. I have tried before with Bobs system . I tried with 50 pips bars , basically with that kind of pip size it will not be for day trade.
BUT Any how believe me THE BEAST by Steve should work fine with renko bars.. I am pretty confident.

If some one wants to day trade I would guess 5 or 10 pip for Euro should work out fine
Thanks

Happy do do any pairs, just let me know.

How long do you want to run each brick size test for? I propably dont have enough space on VPS for more than 1, maybe 2 more demo accounts to test them all at the same time.

stupid question but how do i make sure i have all the history for a pair down loaded?

Cheers
Indy

Hi ES Trader

Do you think 20 pip renko is not suitable. Furthermore, do know of a way we can back test Renko. I have tried but can not get the off line chart to start in m5 time frame.

kind regards

I dont know how to back test Renko bars. Renko bar consumes lot of Memory. I have 4GB Ram and it does not give me Renko bars too far back.
I would guess one may have to kind of test it visually looking at the chart.

All of a sudden, Renko has flooded the thread. TB is basically a Price Action EA, using multiple pairs, recovery, and hedging to make a winner.

Now - besides pretty charts ( which would all be custom charts with a dedicated EA for each pair ( 2X EAs active ) ), where is the beef. I can not see where Renko brings anything to the party besides very clear and obvious PA charts.

Then there is the fundamental problem of the Sixths which are calculated based on the time domain that Renko eliminates - i.e. no linear time domain component. You could still write a Renko Sixths, but it contains no new info.

Actually, a 20 pip Renko Bar has to swing 40 pips to draw a reversal bar. So maybe a 10 is better, then a 5 and then a 3 and then you nearly have a standard chart.

I have spent about 6 months writing different Renko EAs and I found that the Big Renko Runs Giveth Pips and the Ranging Small Renko Runs Taketh - away way More Pips.

Maybe I am completely off base here, but I would hate for this thread to go into the weeds with something that hasn't got a clear technical strategy and agreed upon merit by the Dream Team.

If I am way wrong on this - be gentle.

KingHigh.

Maybe a new thread devoted to Renko and The Beast could be started for those interested in pursuing that avenue, and keep this one based on the initial premise. Just a thought

I have had a demo running with The Beast since the 12th of October. I am only running it on 11 pairs with .3 primary and .1 secondary. The account is now at 29,858.21 and started at 25,000. I have 3 open trades with a slight positive balance. Job well done guys. I plan on continuing the demo for another two weeks before putting it on a live account.

KingHigh,

thanks for your input. this is in no way to highjack the thread.

steve himself thought it was a good idea. if steve wants it, lets make a new thread i am all for it.

i know the beast works on renko. that is not it. it is if renko could be a more valuable asset then standard 1 hour chart were the beast is running on now.

maybe renko could give a better starting trades and less drawdown then the actually 1 hour chart. if this could be achieved using renko. then why not try to test it?

otherwise lets wait for steves input , what he likes to do. and we try that.
