Greetings to all!

What is VSA learching?

VSA is Volume Spread Analysis. It measureas the flow of Smart Money(later SM) and this is the most important for traders. The SMART money. We dont want to be shaken out by the big dogs, do we?!
Here u can find more about VSA and "better volume":
Better volume- this will be the basics
Later i will attach more pdf´s and switch to advanced material
(note: I will not copy-past to the thread, everything will be very simple and clear because of my bad english)

learching is the mixture of Learning and Teaching

What is the purpose of this thread?

We will learn and teach(learch) ourself how the VSA work through examples from market(cherry picked and live examples).

This thread is for beginners! Im also totally new to VSA, but not in trading. So, we will discover how can we make money from this superb(i think it will be superb) indicator.

We will use better volume(indicator attached)

I hope many of you will learn how to use properly the signals of VSA and will learn something from this thread.
I also hope that the experienced VSA analyzers will be here to help us.

Here we have one very good thread(with experienced teacher) according to VSA:
vsa with Malcolm
It is for those with basics knowledge about volume. If Malcolm will agree we can use some examples later from his gorgeous thread.

ps. my english is awful, so i would like to ask u to PM me when in the text is something wrong or something totally meaningless

Simple as 1+1=3

Our tools:
We are going to use S/R(mainly), trendlines, sometimes fibo and BB.

And the most important:
we are going to trade with the trend!!!
So use a MTF(multi timeframe analysis) for better odds.

What the heck is this: learning, teaching, system, half-system, learching, blah blah blah??!!

This is not a system! We are going to learn how to trade with VSA, but for better odds we will analyze the market! Analyze it with the mentioned tools.
And!We will trade only after lot of examples!

Hi Petar!
Its very good to see you here because we need an experienced VSA traders as you. Im very happy that you are here!

Thank you for your advice:
We will definitely move later to Tom Williams- Master the markets and The Secret Science of Price and Volume, but I think that is advanced material, so for the first time Better volume will be enough. Really, only for the absolute basics

As u can see Im new to FF so I will try to move it there

We will use only the regular better volume at the start, because its enough for us at the start. The indicator I attached has some plus futures, but as I said before it doesnt matter

Same here. Well I don't want to learn it but I am interested in knowing whats it about.

Over the years I've seen multiple VSA threads and I still as of yet know what VSA is about. Is it an indicator? Because the VSA threads I've seen focused on an indicator. I think.

Hi Jhig!

I believe that this thread will not be only for "how to use VSA" and if there is high volume....do this or that, but also understand what it represent, the meaning of the high/low volume!

Thank you for sharing your idea!

I welcome this thread.

As far as I am concerned, there can never be too many Volume Spread Analysis threads.

A few post in and yet no mentention of some key concepts (first principles):

1. When weakness appears, it usually appears on UP bars/candles.
2. When Strength appears, it usually appears on DOWN bars/candles.
3. Volume represents nothing more than the activity of the professional side of the market.

haha, it's not an indicator, Sir Josef

VSA is, as the name says, analysis... a way of trading.
the indicator is merely a representation &/or a tool --- it complements trading & hastens analysis/decision making.

Here we have another one "better volume indicator"

Whats the difference between this and attached in the 1st post?

This one has also white color bars.

The difference between a red and white volume is:
if the bar is bullish the volume is red
if the bar is bearish the volume is white

Which one to use?

It doesnt matter! I will use the one attached here for explanation.

Here you can see the difference:
http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/...sek/volume.jpg

1- from the first post the tro version
2- the originaly better volume 1.4
3- color changed from lime to green-this will be used in examples

ps. if u dont know how to change the color i can explain

!!!CAUTION!!!

Before we start the lesson make a coffe, tea or whatever you like, because we are going to learn something new! Learning is interesting and we can enjoy it

After we finish learning and after we find our path the trading will not be interesting, but BORING! At the end of the learning we will make money and trading will be only a "job".

!!!CAUTION!!!

The volume in isolation

Here we have our first chart with "better volume":
http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/...exhibition.jpg

As we can see, there are low volume bars, high volume bars, red bars, green bars etc.

It is very important to understand that the volume represents the activity of professional traders during the time period from the open of the candle until the close.
It is also very important to note here that the volume is not enough to understand what market is doing, we must also understand the correlation of the spread with volume!

What is spread?
Spread is the difference between the high and the low of the candle.

we can start with volumes in isolation:
red bars:
-appearing usually on bullish candles
-these are high volume bars(high because we can see them usually above the 100MA-maroon colored on the chart)
-these bars appears at the tops(counter-trend tops) and when the uptrend starts(there must be confirmation!)
white (=white) bars:
-these are the opposite of red bars
-appearing usually on bearish candles
-high volume bars(usually above the 100MA)
-appears at the bottoms(counter-trend bottoms) and when the downtrend starts(there must be confirmation!)
green bars:
-appears during profit taking
-before consolidation, because there is no selling or buying pressure
magenta bars:
-on the tops and bottoms, its reversal signal
yellow(=yellow) bars:
-represent weakness, but more about weakness in "volume in context" section

As I mentioned earlier we are going to learn throught examples(becasue the teory is always easier):
http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/.../isolation.jpg
This is AUD/CAD 30min chart where the trend is up on H1 and H4 charts.

1. volume: green bar with average volume, this means that there is no demand or supply, so it means consolidation, we must wait
2. volume: the trend is up and we see 2candles with unusual high volume(mean hidden demand). These two bars are white, because are bearis(notice that the first candle with unusual high volume is doji-we will explain this in the next section "volume in context"). But unfortunately after this signal we cant go long, because there is not enough strength in the up candles(low volume- yellow bars)
3. volume: after another test of the support(potential demand area)-also will explain in the next lesson, we have a bullish candle with strength for uptrend, typical red candle at the beginning of uptrend
4. volume: here we have another very small retracement, there is very low volume in the bearish candles- yellow bars- the trend can continue up

Hope you enjoyed the first lesson, more examples will be posted soon. Feel free to post your own charts
