this attempt to short Gold today was a BE trade, no other trades for now, i m flat waiting on FOMC.
most charts have explanations on them on why i took the trade + management. Will see what this week brings but for right now i m up 5.4% for this week.

EDIT> BE trade> could ve taken a 1to1 as it s counter, there s no climactic hrly vol to stop the progress, but i got greedy

Bit of a downtrend the past couple of days, with a little pull back after yesterday's highest volume.

Sometimes in trading you have to let the move play out, price could have come down to find support at the 50% or 0% of yesterday's high volume bar or it could continue the down trend. If price did find support then it would be a strong sign to look for longs next Monday.

You hear this all the time, an important skill in trading is knowing when not to trade. Well today is an example for of when I'm not interested in trading. The news bar has knocked price sideways and price has failed to break either the high or low of the NFP bar.

The way that I see things is that there is too much indecision or maybe not enough interest at the moment and pretty much every pair I watch is telling the same story. So 3 day weekend it is!

Today is a bank holiday in the US, but with Trump inauguration, wonder if we will see some movement on USD.

I don't plan on trading today, a problem with trading potentially high volatility events is an increased risk of SL hit. I like trading with hard stops so for me it's best to just stay out.

Day trading means open and close trade in same day. it is correct, it does not mean to trade every day.

yes, because of trump inauguration it is expected to be very volatile. his big mouth and samll brain produce a lot of statements , a lot of decisions on the go and market mafia over react to everything he said.

fortunately his Trump-coin sunk heavily

Finished reading the book, thanks for the recommendation.
Looks like we are in store for 4 years of price spikes based on tweets. Its annoying because of the potential of them running stops.

Wow, impressed that this thread continues to live. I looked back at my post count and made one post back in 2011. Lots of hidden gems in this thread from contributors like HiddenGap plus the creator itself Malcomb. It appears Anotan has taken the baton and forged on. (Thanks). I traded some VSA last night for the first time in a while and had some good success. Maybe I can add some value to this thread in the near future.

VSA works very well, the biggest thing is to keep your expectations in check and to get out of bad trades quickly.

Seriously if you're short and you're seeing up bars on increasing volume, do you want to remain short?

kinda yeah, up bars on increased vol is how weakness comes in, if i see up bars on medium spread/vol then i d wanna get out

That is true weakness comes in on high volume up bars. Surges in volume on up bars show hidden selling.

But if you're already short that means you've seen the buying climax, you've seen the no demand. If you sold that ND that signaled lack of interest to the upside then you start to see up bars on increasing volume thats telling you that buyers have stepped and are willing to take price higher.

After the buying climax you want to see low volume up bars and increasing volume on down bars.. When I say increasing volume on down bars, Im saying just steady rising volume, not a surge in volume showing hidden activity.
